Please update the Misasa crankshaft database

In an effort to get CAA to allow extensions of the crankshaft on 503 and 582 engines from 300 hours, we are compiling a database of all engines in operation in our country. Please go to the MISASA website or use the following link:

Can anybody tell me how 503's crankshafts have now become an issue, when last week it was stated there was no such restriction on a 503 ?????

Hell Rusty, it's becoming a joke. Let me rephrase. It has long become a joke. Someone doesn't know his elbow from his arshole.(Please Niren, educate these guys. Teach them how to read or something).ONLY RECOMMENDED CRANK CHANGE ON 503. OR WHAT?

The current maintenance manual for both 503 and 582 states that the engine must be overhauled at 300 hours, However it does not state what is requireed for each engine type at overhaul.

The same manual makes reference to the Repair Manual for engine types 462; 532 and 582 and this is where it is stated that the crankshaft must be replaced at 300 hours.

As concerns the 503, there is no further documentation, about what is required at overhaul. If we look at the general definition of an overhaul, it involves the complete dissassembly of the engine, inspect and measure all components, replace those that are out of limits and put the engine back into service. There are no documents that state that the crankshaft on a 503 must be replaced at 300 hours.

Can somebody please tell me what is the latest on this issue, according to the AP in Bloem (Sarel Van Rensburg) he cannot AP our Microlights anymore and that CAA has already declined some Authority to Flies based on this issue..... Thanks Philip
