Glad to hear things are progressing CTD
Patience is a virtue... remember what they say, "when you have time to spare, go by air".
Hang in there, it will all be worth it when you get airborne safely.
Tightened the axle, put the cable back on the pulley, lubed it all up, put it back and VOILA! I now have fantastic brakes!! What a pleasure. For the first time in a long time I am able to do a full run-up mag test without creeping down the runway.
If you havent opened yours recently and checked I would suggest you do, might be the same problem.

Where are you? I am in Cape Town and would happily take you for a flight in my Sycamore.

The sheer pleasure and joy the freedom of flying my chosen Gyro brings me is priceless and my wish for you is that you experience the same soon.

I thought I would share my experience with you Ldel. My brakes were exactly as you described. I decided to replace the cables and in doing so got to the splitter tube under the keel. Upon inspection, I found that the cable had jumped off the pulley inside the splitter tube and was running between the pulley and the housing around the pulley axle. The axle is also the bolt and had loosened.Ldel wrote: If it is the one thing that I have to change, it is the drum brakes on my Sycamore - no balance when taxiing. Keeps on pulling to one side, and it is sticky. Cleaned and ajusted it several times - no luck.

There are thousands of considerations when purchasing/building a machine. What is most important is that you consider them all and then reconsider safety again since it is the most crucial factor after all. Once you have decided, you will take comfort in your decision and enjoy using the machine for what you intended (which is the second biggest consideration after safety in my opinion).CrashTestDummy wrote: I like my Sycamore very much
