Did some searching on the net, and here are some links about old instruments.

http://www.aviation-antiques.com/instruments-5.html

Old Cub Instruments had white faces and black lettering, but I suspect they may be hard to read when bouncing in turbulence.

White lettering on black background is easier to see.(To me at least)

I tried to find a link for the bezels, this is the front ring that holds the glass in place.

Some time ago I saw instruments that had the bezel brass coated or brass colour painted .

These were modern instruments and they looked good in a wooden instrument panel.

They looked quite oldy worldly but I can't find the link again. Sorry.

Anyway have fun making your decisions.

Kind regards,

Gunter Rostek.

Checkout Control Instruments http://www.control-instruments.com

They are the official VDO distributor in SA, Maybe you can get them at a better price. I bought my fuel pressure sensor for the 912 from them for R350. The official rotax price was much much more. When I removed the sensor it has the VDO label and part number on it.

Yip,

Escourted EAZ to her new home at Morning Star on Saturday morning. 8) Almost 10 hours on EPH now. Would have put in a few hours today but had a wedding to attend to in Franshoek. Tommorow up to the big smoke for an interview. The rest of the week looking pretty good for a 6am takeoff and 2 hour flight. 8)
