The problem is your body is on the borderline of Hypovolemic shock.(sorry about the Spelling) Because they are removing about 10% of your blood the body will protect itself by switching your lights off if there is a problem ( big fright, too much of and andrenalin rush, pull .5 of a G too much etc). this means you become a passanger till you wake up again and as you can well understand this could be very bad for your health in general. The 72 hours is the longest time it could possibly take for your body to return to a normal state of operation.
Do not take this as Gospel but this is how it was explained to me by a Medical person.
