Nice Job
Congrats Ian, well done on the great job. She's a beaut
Hi Guys.
Many thanks for all the good wishes. VERY much appreciated
Flew the Sav solo today for the first time.... absolutely stunning :D
For a Gautie we dont really know wind like the coastal guys, but this AM I did CCTS with 20 MPH cross wind, she (and the pilot, thanks to good TBird training at X Winds) handled it comfortably.
... CAA have handled me very professionally with no issues throughout this build. Always made sure my docs were 100% in order...
Off to do proving hour number 3 now.... :D
Cheers ian

Thanks Rudi, good luck with your build number !
Thanks swiftprop, grostek, AndyCAP
OK AndyCAP, will give some feedback as to how things progress.
Below are my tracks for the first 7 flights after the initial test flights, you can see I'm not too ambitious yet. (before anyone wonders what the non highlited tracks are, they are my TBird tracks)
I'm roughly following the FAA AC 90-89A "Amateur-Built aircraft and ultralight flight testing handbook".
The last 2 flights was all about the engine... is da fan gonna stay switched on...
After each flight I re-torque the prop, and check every detail in the engine bay. The bolts on the prop did'nt need any re-tourquing (?) the last time so I will check every 2 flghts from now.
Now that I'm more convinced all is reasonably OK in the engine bay I started to look at some performance figures. First (pretty rough) check was a climb out from take off. Average speed with flap disengaged after 200 ft was around 53MPH, profile below shows I climbed around 850ft in a minute.
This weekend I will get into more checks, like airspeed indicator accuracy, cruise speed etc....
Thanks swiftprop, grostek, AndyCAP

What software are these images downloaded from.
Thanks
I use a Garmin GPS, when I get home I run Garmin's Mapsource on the PC, download the tracks from the GPS and produce this data from Mapsource.
Its quite nice, especially when there is not much wind you can crit your speeds during landing, take off etc..
Cheers ian

Hi Meneer
A lot of interest on Saturday at S & F, so what did the judges say? Your aerie is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned...
