Try a Cheetah as well, nice wide body. Russel Richie Bird at Circus can help you here.

Of course there is also the BB Explorer
My short chubby 90kg and Boet in all his glory went flying on Saturday morning and there is more than enough space. I didn't even have to suck it in to close the doors
The Cheetah and Skyranger both have a divider in between the seats which works nice as a arm rest and prevents you from rubbing shoulders with your pax. All good choices

How much woud a Bushy cost with all the neccesaries? Will it fly with 582 on the highveld?
My prob is trike does 650fpm climb and that in NOT ENOUGH - I need more, so don't think a Bushy with 582 will do and doubt I can afford the 912
Challenger climbs 1100fpm 2 up - MMmmm, mabe I am searching for something that is right in front of me

Hi Big D,
You should really speak to Rudi about the Rans-S12. This aircraft will comply with all your requirements and then some. Add to that stunning visibility and side by side seating, which by itself is awesome!
He'll be based at Rhino soon - suggest you take a real close look at it. If I could afford to upgrade, that's what I'd go for right now.

Funny you should mention this
I got an E-mail from Dieselfan asking what my problem is now looking at 3 axis again
I told him I was at Petit one afternoon, wind blowing like freaking Katrina, nobody flying, except that madman Rudix in his Rans :D It handles wind VERY well
I don't think I would fit though Hennie, you are pretty big too - Have you tried it?

Hennie my mate, Big D is called big D because he is a large lad.... I know this because dark helmet told me.
We are all at Rhino and another challenger flying from there will be great. Rudix's plane is awesome but the D will struggle a bit...
Search for what you want amongst the stuff you have... its right in front of you Big D..

Hi Big D,
Rudy's cockpit looks awefully big from the outside looking in. He promised me a flip & hopefully this would happen soon as we're based at the same airfield now.
I'll comment more as soon as I can talk out of experience, but for now, this is what I would like to upgrade to in future.
Dish, I flew front seat with your instructor once in a Challenger - not comfy for me at all! Then how will Big D find it? Nice plane, but not too big in the front.
This is where I must really give my old Mizer credit, will take two big adults in style with no cramping of any sorts.
Regards,
Henni

You know what lads,,,,
a mizer?? a challenger>?? A cheetah, an icarus?? a trike, a flipping kite.... it makes no difference. We all share a love of flying and a love for the cameraderie around it. No one cares what you fly so long as its safe, comfy and your own pride and joy. ... i adore my challenger and hopefully one day (like my mate rudix) i might be privelaged to own more than one... my attitude is buy what suits your budget and what you enjoy flying..... :D :D :D :D
Its all good boys....

R240K new with a 582, R340K with a 912S fully built. Cut R80K off that if you build it yourself. 2nd hand are cheaper of courseBig D wrote:How much woud a Bushy cost with all the neccesaries?
a climb rate of 650 in a 582 on highveld would be about right. Boet happily flies the 582BB from 3000ft without any issues. Obviously the 912s much betterMy prob is trike does 650fpm climb and that in NOT ENOUGH - I need more, so don't think a Bushy with 582 will do and doubt I can afford the 912

Thanks for replies guys
Morph - Where can I get a 912 engine lekker cheap like you :D
Hennie, would love to hear your experience when flying with Rudi - If you fit I will be visiting my friend at Petit and bribe him for a spin
Dish - You may just be right - Henni a little taler than me hence he is not comfortable in Challenger, I do fit just bumped my "maer merries" when taxi-ing -
- This can be adressed easily though
Wish someone would give us some feedback on flying a Skyranger
Cheers

speak to Clinton Phillips at Border Flight School. He is the agent and the CFI maybe he can put you in contact with a local guy or give you an insite into how it flies otherwise the Cheetah is a copy of the Skyranger and should fly very similarly. Russell mentioned above has a 582 and a 912ul version at CircusBig D wrote: Wish someone would give us some feedback on flying a Skyranger
Clintons details found here

Big D wrote:Thanks Morph. Is it not then weird that the Cheetah costs more than the Skyranger, if Cheetah is a copy - or do I have it wrong?
D

Too true and the Skyranger is an import where the Cheetah is local. There are some aesthetic differences like dash layout, front fairings etc but should fly the same.
