Rainy weather

Postby nicow » Wed Jul 04, 2007 3:14 pm

Just wondering if it is OK to fly my trike in rain-can the Rotax 582 handle the water,or will the air cleaners get to wet?I flew in rain for a short while before, and nothing happened to the performance.

a) Yes you can technically fly a trike in the rain

b) But NO you don't want to fly a trikein the rain

The engine is capable of running in wet weather but it is cold, wet uncomfortable, painful, dangerous, illegal(if exceeding VFR rules) and finally not a good idea IMHO -xX

However if you do get caught in a little bit of rain the motor is not going to suddenly die and as long as you can see, find a place to make a precautionary and wait until the storm clears.

I have started my plane with wet airfilters after a whole nights rain and had no problems
