Tribute to Mark Beckley

Postby Oddball » Mon Jul 02, 2007 11:22 am

Over the past year that we have been going to airshows we have got to know many of the airshow personalities and pilots. Mark Beckley was one of those people who you like easily and immediately.

He was one of the most approachable guys on the circuit and always quite humble, in spite of owning Huffin' and Puffin', his Stearman, and his L39. On the occasions that I got to speak to him he was witty and dryly amusing. The pristine condition of his aircraft was evidence of his attention to detail and his meticulous fussing over the aircraft.

Mark was simply an all-round nice guy. I was looking forward to chattting to him this last weekend at Tzaneen but never got the chance to do that.

I, amongst many others, will miss him at future airshows and I am very sorry that I will not have the opportunity to get to know him better.
A lone impulse of delight drove to this tumult in the skies...

One of the most likeable characters on the flying scene. He will be sorely missed.
