Sorry Boet
Can't agree. That nose wheel always like an afterthought (which I suspect it is). I know it is practical but from an aesthetic point of view it sucks.

Willie,

Uploaded pics requested under "Pics for Willie" so as not to contaminate this thread with KRII related stuff.

Tailwheel

Postby Scudrunner » Tue Jun 05, 2007 9:31 am

I have to agree, cosmetic wise the tailwheel just looks better. I had a short flight this weekend and landed with almost No intervention with the peddals. Although I have not flown another taildragger plane, the BushBaby surely must be one of the easiest taildraggers around!

I agree- after a few hours you dont know what all the fuss is about, and you feel pumped every time you do a perfect 3 pointer - thats what flying`s all about!!!

I went from a trike to a 300hp Biplane via a Iiger moth- Vulture did her whole PPL on a Pietenpol T/Dragger- We dont have nose wheel ratings at all- It was no stress at all - in the old days evryone learned to fly on tail wheel planes

My only unpleasant experiences with the BB tailie were when taxi testing DZI, purposely not getting airbourne. In and out of rudder authority without a taildragger rating! One afternoon of intensive learning, 3 groundloops. Never had a problem again, max Xwind so far gusting 15 kts.
No regrets at all going tailie, huge fun, looks good, less drag and with locking tailwheel fitted no problems manhandeling on the ground.

I noticed Bennie's BB had the nose gear mounted to the firewall, to my eye that looks much better on the BB if it must have a nosewheel.
What do you think Boet?

This one is quite fun with this excellent, strong gundrilled springsteel U/C :!:

IMO, they just look so much better with the tailwheel, but be wide awake
