Boksburg-by-the-sea  , Valley of the waves :?: what about one of the mine dumps?

Be very careful. We have had an incident where the guy did a precautionary due to fuel and landed too close to the water. A wave swamped him completely, killing the motor. It took a long time to recover the trike from the sea, then dry out the motor and get it started again. Not a good thing

I stand to be corrected, but I think it is also technically illegal to land on the beach except in an emergency. Maybe somebody can give some clarity here

AFAIK it is too, but I had to check to see if I could land and take off incase I had a real emergency

As far as Boksburg-by-the-sea goes I'd much rather explain to CAA my excuse above than to FAJS as to why the last 3 747's on finals had to abort while I practised my beach landings - not a very understanding lot I reckon

As Morph says, technically. However, I can fly through the loopholes in the regulations. For example,

"vehicle” means any motorised conveyance which is designed to transport one or more persons on land and includes a trailer.

my trike is designed to fly,

and

18. If in the course of any proceedings in connection with an offence under these regulations it is proved that–

(a) a person was sitting behind the wheel or at the controls of a vehicle, whether or not the vehicle was stationary, it shall be prima facie proof that the person was using that vehicle in that place.

A day of perfect weather yesterday, off to the airfield after work lastnight....managed to squeeezzzz a wonderful sunset flight in before twilight set in, air crisp and clear, wx keeping Capetonians peeping out of hangar doors, coffee in hand, looking skywards for the last two weeks. Bacchus and John A also made use of the opprtunity to spread their wings earlier the day at Wintervogel.

Luister julle Kouevoel manne  8)

Ek se nie dis julle nie  , ek vra net.-0<

Dankie,

NS sien julle ouens in Carnavon.

Today was one of THOSE mornings. You cannot get better anywhere in the world. Sometimes, just sometimes, we strike it good in cape town as well  !!!

Everything is green, the mountains big and clear, the sea blue, no turbulance, no wind.....just this perfect winters morning.

Had one of Harlequins girlie friends from Ireland in the back seat ( he had the other one ). Now I dont want to talk religion here as it is a personal matter. But this girl Mary said one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard in the air. Picture the scenery.......she was quiet for a while and just as I wanted to ask her if she was OK, she said: " you know, people who say there is no God, have never been up in a microlight ".

Ten out of ten for that one!
