New.... and strong going

Hi all,

I am new to the flying adventure thing, started the 16th March 2007 , and still busy with my MPL @ Freedom Flying School in Bapsfontein, Gauteng.

My decision to start flying was that other red guy that sits on my right shoulder, O and the Search of adventure . One day still sitting home trying to look useful and the next thing I am in the air making the bank manager quit happy .

It seams that I am n quite slow learner as it taken me almost 16 hours to get Solo :D :D :D … the first time I ever flown was my intro flight for my license. I only jumped out of a plane before … never landed in a plane. This is my reason why landing is still the scariest part of the training.

“The hardest thing about flying is the ground” …. The guy that told me that really never felt some of the thermals in an Aquilla.

It is quite awesome to fly, even thou it still scare the shit out of me.

I gather you are training in a trike and in that case it is quite common to take that long to go solo.

Hi risepop, welcome and don`t feel bad about the 16h, it took me about 20h I think it had to do with have a PPL first, to few control surfaces and rudders that work the otherway and the rest was flying through the winter at -2C and the instuctor needed to pee every 2nd circuit (all the cups of coffee before take-off).

I started my lic May last year, 12 months now and after 200h I'm still .. at times , from the hours you will gather I averaged 3.7h a week, what is more fun , hope to see you Bapsfontein.

Well at this stage I am trying to figure out what is the best possible why to acquire my own plane (Or part of it). :D :D

In flying it is good if your take-offs and landing tally up to the same amount, even if the landings scare you at this stage. Over the years it has been established that this is the most cost effective way to fly.

Yes, that was one of the requirements from the BOSS …. To land (successful) the same amount of times as take off… or there is trouble at home.

.....what can I say.I felt exactly the same 'coupla months ago.Skydiver and the the landing gear needed a rest .Although I found that being a canopy pilot assisted a lot in the"feel" of the trike on finals and landing.As for the turbulence...well that takes some time to get used to I believe! Just got my wings( a week ago) so also just started learning 'bout the most enjoyable life style ever.....oh! and and for aqcuiring the plane....sell the car and start cycling!
