Re: Brass monkeys
We need the experience? I tried out my winter gear, who the heck can fly with oven gloves
. Hopefully tomorrow the wind won't keep blowing the hangardoors closed, altho it's meant to be colder.

I took 5 hours to clean her on Sunday and as her clothing is torn and in for repairs, she will get all dirty again. SO I have to take her out and fly her.
Besides what was the best thing? Not one person on radio!? Just myself. How often do you fly and have to turn down the radio just to be able to talk to your pax!
Compared to Saturdays rape of the airwaves and double transmissions, where at Rhino park 20 trikes descended from different directions it made me think of a song "It's raining men..." but we won't go there for fear of having more trikes being called HIM.

As a last thought has anyone fitted those 12v electric blankets?

The cold can get you in all sorts of aircraft.
I flew the C182 for the skydivers at PMB on Sunday (very hot), and on Monday (very, very cold). The door is off for easy exits and at 11500', my left hand couldn't open any more from around the yoke, my right hand was OK 'cause I was sitting on it most of the time
and when I finally opened and flexed my left hand, the ice crystals on the skin cracked.
Have never seen anything like that!
Guess 'cause in the trike my hands are warm and cosy in the bar-mitts. :D

Anyone know where one can get a bellaclava? For real. My head is an iceblock. Had ol Hans comment on why the school was closed "We're getting old my boy, it's too cold"
Admitably I want Summer back. Would rather fly in 12pm thermals then
-3C at 60mph, I eventually pulled bar to 90 to get home.
Once again

At alt I was and speed windchill was -21C, I think I'm sterile.
Dumb and dumber.

Heya buddy!Big D wrote:Any outdoor shop Diesel - GEt the balaclava that is wind resistant
I fly with fleece, flightsuit, special snow socks, thinsulate gloves and a First ascent balaclava - Don't really feel the cold
Then again, I have some built inn padding![]()

Went to Trappers trading quickly Got the First ascent bala for R100 it's fleece tho. They had the zero porosity one for R200 but it wasn't comfortable or warm. Is the fleece worthwhile? I don't want - in going with the subject "Chilled monkey brains" on the menu - again.
I had 3 layers of pants, 4 layers of jackets but the worst was hands and face even with helmet and visor - You would've died flying only with your Raybans. What would I do without my bathtub!
I specifically remember that my bala is treated with something called "windshield" - Should not be a problem for you with helmet and visor, I fly without a visor so need something to stop wind.
Thinsolate gloves, also windproof - You won't feel a fart of cold air!
Prob with gloves is tuning Radio and GPS - Attach small pencil to these devices with a string - Can program radio no prob and string prevents it from becoming prop food
