I have been away for a week and saw "Young Junkie's" reply to this thread. I did not have time to reply then but I have a few moments now.

To paint the picture: Junkie had his trike for sale and Big D bought Ratman's Gemini. I had time to kill in Cape Town and I booked a conversion plan with Ian (aka Junkie). I placed my aerie on the market and Junkie's gemini was the Bee's knees to me. Paint job, detailed maintenance record, awesome aerie. Older aerie than my own but faster and better maintained (from the logbook records).

Junkie opened my eyes and he earned my respect by being responsible and taking control when I felt I could not handle the conditions.

The loss of Junkie hit me hard, a week before his passing I flew with him in his Mainair Gemini and he showed me the aerie's envelope. At no moment was I uncomfortable or did I feel uneasy. This man could fly, I was in awe and most at ease!

Awe, love and serious jealousy were my feelings! In awe what he did with the aerie, love for the aerie and jealousy because I loved what it dit in the air and not having her in my hangar. Junkie and I had agreed on the selling price and I was to buy the aerie on condition that I sell ZU-AXC.

Flying is not cheap and the trike second hand market is seriously overloaded. I am doing my convex onto 3 axis with Philip van Niekerk now on a challenger and I have been working working hard to buy a GT450. Rietfontein is 12 clicks from my house and that is currently GT450 central. Demon, Big G, how many of these babies in the hangar there now? I have now flown some fast 3-axis aeries and my desire is waning.
The topic is getting lost in my ramblings, Junkie lost his life doing what he lived for. I don’t want to see this thing in court.

To those sueing Junkie’s estate, you are doing yourself an injustice and by doing this you will be negatively affecting your business. Take the punches. See my thread about the Crocodile, DarkHelmet, PastMaster and the Crocodile!

I think enough has been said on this topic. No-one was ever disparaging about Junkies's abilities or his passion. I think Boet's point was a good one but misinterpreted. I rest my case on this issue.

Prosedeer oor n baadjie en hou jou broek klaar vir die onkoste. ( Take someone to court for a jacket, but keep your pants ready to cover the costs.) C J Langenhoven

Moenie my so goed vertrou om my dokument te teken VOORDAT jy dit gelees het nie. Ek het jou nie so goed vertrou om met jou belofte tevrede te wees sonder jou handtekening nie-----vertroue is al wat bedrog op vertrou. ( Do not trust me enough to sign my document BEFORE you have read it. I did not trust you enough to be content with your promise without your signature. Trust is the only thing that fraud can trust in.) CJ Langenhoven.

Maak staat op die raad van die man wat twyfel of dit reg is: die man wat nie twyfel nie, het die saak maar van EEN kant af aanskou. (Trust the advise of the man that doubts whether he is right: the man that have NO doubts, has looked at the matter from one side only. ) CJ Langenhoven.

Wise words spoken long ago by a very wise man, and still true now.

Well said by both Langenhoven and yourself Boet! I take your point and agree totally! As Langenhoven said about parliament, "die helfde van die mense hier is donkies" and when forced to apologise, grudgingly said "goed, die helfde van die mense hier is nie donkies nie"
