Groblersdal

:D wow what a day, if you could not make it to Groblerdal today you missed out.there must have been 30 - 40 trikes there and I believe a total of almost 200 planes that flew in. At least 10 gyro's, jetrangers, harvards, pitts, yaks,tigermoth and even a flyby from an Impala.
Beautiful flying weather going there...top speed of 91mph (Aquilla), coming back, well a bit of a headwind saw groundspeeds of 37-44 mph. .....almost an hour longer to get home and somwhat bumpy
I was somewhat apprehensive, my 1st time flying into an event with so many planes, so learnt alot today.

Felt like I had been to gym when we landed.............a great day.Thank you to the organizers. Hope we see pics on here soon. I know Agent had his camera.......... :D

All I can say is congrats to the Groblersdallers , well done guys .
The pilots who didnt attend there is a quiz on hangar talk - A GPS 72 is up for the taking resolve the 204 and who knows you may find your way to Groblersdal - who Knows ????
It was a great show , we lost count at 189 planes trikes gyros , blikaries war birds , choppers little green grasshoppers an all - the mystery 204 may be revealed at 09h00 tomorrow . At the end 204 plnes had been in and out of Groblerdal , but thats close but not the answer -

I have also posted this under Flying Events but just for completeness I repeat it here:

I would like to use this forum to convey our thanks to all who helped us with the problems that we had on Wednesday and Thursday, especially to Louis Van Schalkwyk, the one legged wonder, who is a prince among men!

For those of you that were not there or did not see; when we taxied out to begin our formation sequence Werner Scheepers nose wheel went into an enormous hole that was obscured by grass. This broke the steel extension to the keel tube and he had to abandon the display. Louis then took it on himself to assist Werner and spent the rest of the day stripping this down and fixing it. He drove back to his workshop, arranged for a professional welder and equipment, and even painted the fixed part!

Later that afternoon Werner succesfully tested the repair and then got a puncture as he taxied off the runway... Louis again helped us out and refused to accept payment for any of the work.

The Groblersdal club also very kindly let us put our aircraft into a hanger for the evening on Wednesday. All in all they were magnificent hosts and the event was superb.
