water, water & more water in fuel

Now that i will definately try! :D
Will be flying this weekend so will report back on monday.

The thing that bugs me the most is that i will clear out all the water before flying and then re-check after a landing and theres more water! This is scary as it can cause an engine out at any time, if it only developed over night or when re-feulling i would feel more at ease, but lets see what happens.

Look at the attitude of your Aquilla whilst it is on the ground, vs if airborne. If on the ground, the lowest part of the tank could be the front, ie. thats where the water collects. Airborne the lowest part is in the rear, ie. water collects in the water drain sump.

Arnulf is 100% correct. On the ground, the lowest part of the tank is at the front (by a staggering 5 litres). Next time that you drain the tank, check it out for yourself

It is for this reason that I lift the front of my trike some 30cm by placing a hollow brick under the nose wheel during pre-flight, and only at the end of the pre-flight do I test the fuel.

Another point - you're not "gonna" forget to test the fuel with a bloody great brick stuck under the nose wheel.

Morning All :D
Well after a full weekend of awesome flying i can confirm that the water in fuel issue seems to be "almost" resolved. I say almost because there is still a very small amount found after every test but nothing to worry about. Im also finding dark brown flakes coming out of the tank, so when i bring the trike back to jhb next week ill take off the tank and give it a good clean.

In summary looks like it was a bad fuel supply at that time. thanks all for your input.
