Nice!!! I can only imagine how it made her day / year!

I told my instructors I wanted to do atleast 5 hours before taking a pax. Did 3 and took Big D, did the rest with him next day took Fiance after 6. Tomorrow taking bestman.

sometimes I think we tend to analize our sport too much. :? We should be flying instead of talking k@k about things that will be done the way the are done anyway- no matter what is said or read on here. So get out there and fly. end of story puff

I did 10 hours before taking up a pax.

I waited because i saw that as the culmination and consolidation of my training. After that I was confident that not only could I safely fly but I could make it a smooth and confortable flight for any pax.

When I fly I have no intention of hurting the person I love and treasure the most in the world... me  So taking a pax is not an issue.

Fly with in your capabilities (these are well within the capabilities of the trike)... if there is any doubt there is no doubt... plan your flight, fly your plan

I have been in cars with 18 year old drivers. With some of them I will trust my most precious cargo, with some of them I will only send my mother in law.

The instructors attitude is - 20 hrs before pax.

I think if the attitude of the PIC is like that of an 18 year old show off, he must have at least 500 hrs in all conditions with a bag of cement in the passenger seat, to learn to handle everything the plane and weather can throw at him. :?

The golden question is:

Is microlighting dangerous? :?:

What this topic is eluding to is that a low hours pilot is likely to have an accident?

When you achieve your MPL two instructors are declaring you able to fly.

If anything has been achieved by the instructor a new MPL is a cautious and courtious animal.

Hey guys, I think I'm in deep trouble!

I have 6H30m log hours, no MPL (still doing it) and have bought and flown my ML.....   Now you guys are scaring me with this whole experiance thing :? Sure my closest is not around to take them for a flip but that does not put me at ease......

Maybe I sould add that when I reached 6 hours my instructor wanted to do one crosscountry and signed me off to solo.....

A little different, seeing as I have a PPL, and had 55 hours on my licence before I qualified. But I started flipping friends immediately after my license. I would go to the field, do 3 circuits, and if I was 100% happy with conditions (and my landings), I would load a pax.

An interesting point, is that my PPL examiner said that his primary requirement for passing my flight test was that he would feel safe sending his own family as passengers... If he does not feel that you have reached that level of competency, you haven't passed!

Is there not (or shouldn't there be) something similar for MPL. If the instructor gives you your license, he is giving you a license to take passengers - if he does not feel it is safe for you to take passengers, he should not give you a licence?

C'mon mate, I'm not as bad as S Air. I admid, I still need a lot of hours to fly with you boys in the south and I'm not saying I'm better than ANY of your boys, all I'm saying (asking) is were do you draw the line.

Please do understand that "aviation" around this part of the word is NOT even close as strict as in SA. I (personaly) know of a few PPL students passing throug here to pick up hours, and I'm not saying the CAA system does not know how to regulate this "bussiness", In fackt,.........wait for it!.... This CAA is based on............1930's to 1950's laws!   . and I'm not joking......a scary thought...  !!!!

If ever I am a little rusty or unsure such as first flight after 3 weeks away, strong wind and so on I will do a couple of circuits solo first.
If I feel unsafe I will take somebody current with for a couple of circuits.

Well guys, just want to mention took my son and daughter flipping, an hour each on Saturday morning, and had a ball. We have two new converts.
Was a little apprehensive on first take off, but on climbout, it all came back, like having Trig. on the back again, and got used to the feel of the extra weight pretty quickly.
Found landing easier and more stable with the extra weight and increased speed, but I think above all had the confidence in myself, which I think differs from person to person.
Reached another milestone in my flying career, and are happy. :D :D :D
My 2c. worth.

Regards,

Rusty.
Rusty, but getting there.
