Saturday 30 December 2006

Cape Town covered in cloud. Took the gap to Wintervogel, and then on to Sandkloof, about 20nm north of Wintervogel, where the sun was shining, back to cloudy Wintervogel.

Phoned Morningstar. Raining, but not too windy. Somewhere I read "When there is doubt, there is no doubt." So I left it at that....

First day of flying in the new year, with not much more than a breeze at Morningstar. Met up with Graham, Peter, Trygve after the civilized hour of 07h00 and got back to Morningstar at 10h00.

A break in the Southeaster and the skies are abuzz. Lots of Wintervogel traffic. I wonder if there is a annual general mile-high club spotting convension (see other posts on this forum). Had a great morning flying.

I see I am about to reach that 300 hour mark, and am open for suggestions how this "milestone" should be celebrated.

I thought the time honoured tradition of completing the 100th hour circuit wearing only helmet and headset was a bit daring, but now that all seems a bit timid.

Perhaps, russle up all fellow high milers who forgot, or neglected to do this and in formation, do 3 touch and goes at different strips on one day. Photos for evidence.

Seriously, I've battled to pomp on the back seat at the Drive -in, someone needs to explain how it's possible to join the mile high club on a trike.

Graham in EAF is on his way back to the greater metropole of Aggenys after hangering at Wintervogel for the past month. So a last flip with him.

The picture below is of one of the hangers at Wintervogel, which has certainly become the busiest microlight field of the Western Cape.

Moet se. Dis regtig lekker by Wintervogel. Ek ontmoet meer mense daar van Morningstar en in die vlieggemeenskap in sy geheel in een maand as in n jaar by Fisantekraal !
