Radio interference

Postby Low Level » Tue Jan 09, 2007 7:48 pm

I need help pleeeeze !!! !!! -0<

I have a Pilot handheld - Vertex standard - radio, with a Buzzcomm systems radio/intercom system and Buzzcom headsets - in my gyroplane. External antenna. 914 Rotax motor with electrically variable pitch prop.

The intercom didn't work well so I got everything serviced yesterday at Buzzcom, Edenvale (great service by the way - Thanx Arthur). The intercom is now perfect.

The radio works perfect when we taxi, and ya takeoff I don't know - didn't catch my "Oh sh!t" on the airwaves yet. In the air there is a major interference from something - a constant SSSHHHHHHH kind of noice. It is that bad that you cannot hear any communication. It also interferes with the intercom. We have to turn down the radio volume completely in order to communicate in the gyro. The noice does not change with the the engine RPM.

The prop has a constant speed function which I cannot use. Major interference on the radio when prop is switched to auto.

I have removed the 12V power plug from the gyro to the radio - no improvement.

I am still busy with training and this doesn't help.

Pleeeeze anyone with advise.
