Hi everyone.

Had enough of the computer, and decided to go flying. As I promised to share the experience with everyone who is office bound during the week, here are some photos. I took the last one about 20min ago.

The one photo (with my hand in) is purely to show that girls do fly when the wind blows (look at the smoke)

Coastal flying is rarely tubulent, but today was quite unstable. Cloud base was only about 2000', and the highest peak about 3500' ^ ^ ^ ^

Ok - Enough already

I'm seriously considering retiring from this work thing and moving to an airfield.

Maybe I can go into development.

Make big office parks, where instead of a private garage attached to the office, you can have a hangar.

The irritating thing for the clients will the signs all over the place which reads "Office temporarily closed due to glorious weather. In case of emergency please radio ZU-CMA on 124.20"

Compensation for me is that I do get to fly (not in the pointy piece in the front though) quite often internationally. It was cool when the cock-pit was open for "viewing" but these days it is a lot different.
Thanks fior the pics FF, it sure helps us office-bound ones to get through the day.
Great news, it's Friday (Flyday for some) and the weather looks great for the weekend. :D Must get some more hours in; hopefully starting circuits

I was amazed at how quite the forum was today! It can only mean that the weather was supurb country wide, and everyone went flying :D :D .

Or maybe the rugby had something to do with it. Today was a bit special for me. Our students were at a radio course, the skydive C182 had to go for its MPI, and I guess the rugby did interfere with the afternoon bookings. So for the first time, in I don't know how long, I got to do some decent flying on a weekend.

We were going to do some hang gliding towing at the airfield, but only one pilot arrived. We just needed one more guy to make it happen, so it didn't :( . Instead I took the poor flight-hungry hang glider pilot for a nice long flight up the coast (just over 2 hours). We saw 3 groups of whales (each a nurse, mother and calf), plenty dolphin etc. etc. I decided to turn inland and follow the N2 back to La Mercy for a change of scenery, and with the bad viz, decided to climb to just over the inversion layer. At 2000' it was much clearer. At first there were just some scattered cloud around, and we enjoyed playing in between the little cu's , but I could see that it did not look too great ahead, so I decided to descend. I had to come down to just over 500' AGL to be under cloudbase! A bit of a shock to see how quickly the weather can change! Anyway, I turned back to the coast and returned home safely flying low level along the coast.

Every time I fly, I learn something new, I experience something beautiful, and I get a new perspective on my earth-bound existence.

Here are some pics, just to keep the forum busy

Hooked up with Demon & DH from Rietfontein, Warren from Circus and Smurffie from Klip, went into Springs in a group of 4. Some late afternoon flying on Sunday at Klipriver so I logged about 2.5 hrs for the weekend.

Drove up to Cato on Saturday morning. Being the kind-hearted perason that I am gave the other student, who arrived after me but hasn't flown for a couple of weeks, the first slot.
Waited for their return only to hear that they had an engine problems (broken fan belt) and did a precautionary at Emoyeni. Diagnosis is a siezed motor which should be repaired this week.
Bottom line, didn't fly at all even with such perfect weather on Saturday. :(

Why is it my wife always goes solo before me ???

We have been converting from winch to aerotow- I am having a hard time with it and the instructors keep getting in the back

On saterday afrternoon they send Vuture solo with the instrution to come off the tow and land- She goes solo and keeps the glider in the air for over an hour after the rest of us had been falling out of the sky all day

One day I will solo on something before she does
Flying flying flying-- and a bit of gliding
