I got to go on a few flips with Lep, then we took some clients on a trip to Groblersdal and Lep arranged to have a trike and a gyro with us. Clients had flips and so did we. Flying along the waterways of Nylriver I just thought , I gotta do this. So with the intro, the guidance and then instruction from Lep I bought a trike and got a MPL. Now busy building some hours before I hopefully can introduce some more people to the sport. I have found that as many people that say "are you mad, do you know how dangerous those are" there are just as many that say "when can I go for a flip".

When I was about 12 saw a programme on TV where these okes assembled something like a quicksilver in 20 minutes and flew from their farm.

Tried to convince the ole man we needed one for our farm - never bought the idea. Still have the quicksilver pamphlets that were mailed to me.

Was a great day when I bought my own trike with R13k. Phoned my ole man and told him - I done it myself !

Wanted to fly commercially since I was twice...

Lucky enough to stay next to the local airfield. Always watched the planes doing their base and finals over our house. I just loved wathching them

Started flying radio controlled aircraft in st.6.

While on holiday in Margate, I went for a flip in a microlight, and that was me hooked!!

My dream is still to fly commercially. If all goes according to plan....., I'll start my training early next year.

Way back in 1979 I commenced with my PPL and did 8 hours of training with Jim in Plett. I then went for my medical and plugged the eye test due to red/green colour-blindness. Was distraught for years until one day drove past the Hyundai dealer in Northcliff and there were trikes on display for one of their promotions (courtesy of Peet Pretorius & Crosswinds).

I stopped and spoke to Stefan Joubert (the instructor) who was on hand and immediately booked my intro flight. As soon as we landed I signed up for instruction, and exactly 15 hours (flying time) later was the proud owner of my MPL and a Windlass ZU-AAH. (Many will remember my shocking-pink wing). With happy memories and 220 incident-free hours I sadly sold her and went boating!

Been flying since 6months old as Pax. Pop's is/was as flying beddonered as I am, but he comes from times when trike flights were almost all test flights. hus never even considered it. Have owned and flown a couple 3 axis ml's. Only recently been exposed to the trikes via the demonic one and this site.

My father is an airline captain - so I have been "aerie verskrik" since I was in nappies. I did my ppl when I was 19 and bombed around the skies of Jozi in a blik for a couple of years building hours. I then heard about these microlight thingys and how much fun they were. Went for a ride and as the rest is history....

I was flying my R/C Heli at the local strip and i saw 2 trikes flying around, thinking to myself "Those guys are MAD!" They landed, we had a chat and i was offered a flip - that was it - I was caught - Hook Line & Sinker. I immediately bought a my first trike (windlass 503) and after my training, I baught my new baby - aquilla 2 - 582. Life Changing!

Bought a share in a spot in the Waterberg 2 years ago next to a gravel strip on the estate. Was playing that golf thing and two trikes passed over. I though that that must be really cool to do. That evening some yank who has two fixed wing Ml's in a hanger next to my spot dragged one out, saw me watching and asked if I wanted to go up. With six Amstels already down it was a no-brainer. He let me steer the thing around. The next evening was the same but this time he esked if i wanted to take-off. What a stupid question. Some minor correction on his part and we were up. I had my MPL 3 months later and am the proud owner of a Raptor.
