Welcome Blue Angel

If the microlight is built by a recognised factory then you can easily get financing through Wesbank etc. Models such as the Jabiru, Bantum, Bush Baby(factory built), Cheetah, etc are easy. The banks won't easily finance a kit that you would build yourself. When financing through a bank you will have to take out comprehensive insurance which is expensive. (around R600 per month per R100,000 value)

Second hand planes can also be financed if bought via a recognised business like one of the training schools. Again this depends on the plane and who built it.

Thank you very much for quick reply,
I was looking at a second hand Aquilla in the range of R65000.00 to 70000.00 (Finanecd), I will give Wesbank a call and see what they say.

Sorry for not introducing myself, I am a pilot to be, I have completed my first hour at Skyriders last week. One can not describe how much fun it is.I am also a RC Pilot. Once again Thank you.

There are quite a few for sale in the "For Sale" section here on this site.

Good luck with the banks

If you cannot get vehicle finance you can always look at a personal loan through a bank, or loaning money on your housebond, or selling your wife and children

I know DJ&A were doing finance a on stage. Check with pam Williams on www.jankelow.co.za. Also Stannic and Wesbank were doing deals, but they all prefer new rather than second hand...

Good luck and keep us updated of your progess...

Finance for Microlight

Postby Blue Angel » Fri Oct 27, 2006 7:24 am

Hi,

I called Dennis Jankelow and they advised the following " Banks and whoever finanance microlights will do it if it is brand new, you will battle if it is a second hand one, if you buy a new one you will require a deposit of 20%, we worked the following out for example - R150000.00 less 20% deposit = R2790.00pm, this exludes insurance. This will apply over a term of 5 years. My opinion is like most advised already, take a personal loan or agains your bond.Wish there was another way.
