If it is tue yes the guy needs to be sorted out, unfortunatley it gives all microlighters a bad name and as CAA hears about it our perks get taken away

However some of these guys are out to get the microlighters for whatever reason they can, dont know the guy making them - he might be very competant and truthful :?:

What ever happened to somebody being innocent until proven guilty? And the so called witness is not willing to stand up and be counted?
I would wait for a full investigation before passing judgement.

Was interesting article in newspaper some time ago regarding golf balls and neighbours to golf estates. Someone took estate to court as they were fed up with golf balls in garden on roof etc. Court ruled that there are perks associated with golf course living and as such there are some 'sacrifices' that have to be made. this was one of them. Case was dismissed.

Based on above, there is a ML stip at Cullinan. Airspace does not belong to anyone other than state. One mans irritation/nuisance is another mans fun?

I have bought a place which has runway in complex and I await the mother grundies. I fully plan to be flying at 5.30am and I can see already it gonna be a huge issue. Rules so far, no scooters, motor bikes, quads, golf carts (unless battery) etc. Place is not even finished yet....

Agreed, but when I first moved to Jhb I had a place in a complex with tennis court, volleyball court, pool, braai's & full pub (& that only reason I bought there). After 2 years all were closed run down due to excessive noise and grumpies refusing to maintain these facilities which "they" never use. Could not give the place away for 80% of what I paid during the price boom in 2000 - 2004. Only when the body corp was replaced by some "forward" thinking folks, did they ressurect & maintained the facilities. Have since sold it for small fortune. 3 year timeframe... between old groaners and new blood...

I expect same issues at new spot, but time will tell...

PS
TB
Think you have landed there. Now has big P painted on thresh and if you land expect security on quad bike approach at big speed in cloud of dust to enquire your intentions.... :?

unfortunatley there is a bit of a reputation with some causing a nusiance which may be valid but I think most are just jealous and old grumpies that are probably the type that complain about every little thing...

There will always be those who are jealous or who have a hidden agenda... Many though do so through ignorance and lack of understanding... I make it mission to challenge those who base their lack of tolerance for others on hear say or mob mentality.

Depends on your Auth to fly...

Flying over built up areas is allowed in certain types of ML, but not for "extend" periods of time. Some do not permit any flight over built up area's?

I got Night VFR ATF for the RV and mine changed from above to this. (Still trying to get it changed back. Fly from Rand, so effectively every flight is illegal     )

Ok, but how high are we allowed to fly over built up areas? Reason I ask is from the airfield to the coast we sometimes have to fly over a large area of tableview.

Two separate requirements:

1] at least 1000' above the highest obstacle in a 2000' radius.
2] high enough to safely glide to a suitable landing area.

Hardly ever see any mention of the second rule, and neither rule applies while taking off or landing.

I think you would be restricted by the TMA in that area. Don't know that airspace at all, but assume it would be similar to the rest of coastal the areas and would be in region of 2000 AGL.
