Sitting at JIA in International Departures (I wonder if I can get a Frequent Visitors Card for this place) waiting for my 18h20 Qantas flight to Sydney, now delayed to 18h40!

Over in Aus for 10 days so watch this space for some updates.

Hoping to fly whilst I am over there, as long as the wx plays along.

:( In the DR(f-ing)C. Have to earn moolas to pay for said kite wing.

Its not that bad here now, rains have started so atleast its green and the dust aint so bad... brings with it the dreaded Malaria... thought I had Malaria this morning, the medic gave me two panados and told me not to drink so much. Turns out I had Babalaria

As for taking DNP with... she won't fly so good with AK-47 holes in her (nor will I). We have a Cessna Caravan coming up to do aeromag work (like cropspraying but with a magnetometer), will see whether it gets shot at before attempting to bring a trike up.

In Sydney (Manly actually) after an 8 hour delay in getting!! First we leave 2 hours late, then 2 hours in the air and some inconsiderate pax decides to have a heart attack so back to JIA we go. Refuel etc etc and off we go again.

Well the VB was very welcome and now I have to prepare for my meetings tomorrow.

Local time is 22h44.

Aaaahhh. Did a stint there in 1994. Almost did not come back (Malaria, expired visa, not enough bribe money, allergy to bullets etc...). Spent time in K'shasa, Goma and Lumumbashie (sp?). Not much pvt/social flying done there but I do remember going on training runs/jogs (those were the days I could still see my toes) with a guard. Was a pretty picture jogging outside the compound with the said AK touting "safety officer" laughing his ass off at this moegoe running to nowhere... Nice memories to have, but baie K@K memories to get. I don't envy you at all, but going into Jungle was a great experience...

PS
My wife would like one of the stones for sale at the Mineral street market

I haved moved on south down to Hobart is Tasmania. The max temperature here today was 13C!

The conference starts tomorrow and runs until Tuesday evening, then I am off to Launceston to spend some time with a friend of mine. If the wx is good I should be able to fly on either Wednesday or Thursday at the local airfield.

Drove up from Hobart to Launceston yesterday afternoon; 2 hour drive takes you from the south to the north of this island.

There are only 7 companies in Tasmania that employ more than 50 people! Most of the folk I have met have their own businesses or are working for their parents.

Weather is kak today (wind, cloud & rain) so no flying for me. I hope it clears up tomorrow.
