Double Solo Party

Postby Fairy Flycatcher » Tue Oct 03, 2006 8:57 pm

One thing we do really well in the bad weather, is a solo party.

This week, James and Brett had reason to celebrate, and it was Brett's B*day as well.

Our solo parties have a bit of a tradition to them. Each student must put on the ceremonial hat (an old prop-spinner with a trike in it, which puts all students in a spin  ), and then talk us through a section of flight, which the other students / instructors get to choose. Every mistake and its down-down.

Brett had to do all radio-calls from before entering the runway to landing at Ballito airfield  He has been rather tongue-tied during his course, and this was perfect

James had to talk us through all the actions from getting into his plane to lining up on the runway... including checks. He screwed up so badly from the beginning, that his laughing fits prevented him from continuing past checking radio frequency, but it was most enjoyable to watch :D :D  We did forgive him in the end, because he was the braai-master as well and the meat was burning. :D

Another tradition, is that the student must supply a 5lt keg of beer. Neither James nor Bret could find one in Durban, so James went to fetch his in Germany  :D Aparently customs has a problem with pressurised containers blah...blah... blah.., but when he told them it was all for a good cause, they let him through. Veeerrryy nice beer :D 8)

FF, most of us fly solo. Some every day, and some only on weekends. Can we have a party at your place, will gladly bring beer.
