NAV Question

Postby The Agent » Mon Sep 25, 2006 5:51 pm

Hi All Emil and I have to fly a Sting from Cape Town to Rhino Park.

The plan is to do it over a 2 day period.

We would like to follow the coast but not like hug it all the way.

Suggestions from the nav boffs.

Or do we fly direct.
Only 65 l tank so 4.5 hrs endurance@165 mph.

Waiting now for an invite from the East London okes to stop over. Hint

Was that a hint Agent...... :D

I can offer you accommodation (well one bed and a sleeper couch ), hanger space is at a premium but I will ask around… There may be a spot that we can organize.

When do you plan on coming through this way?

I leave this morning for FACT on scareways and we, Emil and I will get airborne at 5:30 on Friday morning to fly a Sting from Fisantekraal back to Rhino.
Rather nervious about the whole thing and as you know I am kak bang for the mountais.
Careful PLANNING has gone into it andour first stop will be FABW for a splash and dash then onto New Tempe for more juice and then all the way home which we call Rhino Park.
Weather looking good so hold thumbs and see you folks at Rand for the landing of the 747 on Saturday.

Agent

Sorry only saw it now...

Why not route direct via FAKM, whith stop at Carnovan for Splash & Dash, then to FAKM? FAKM got cheapest fuel in country and nice folks. LAND DEEP else a LOOOONG taxi. More direct line to Rhino and less traffic, so may not have to decend below TMA. Call ahead. ATC only to happy to assist with routings and if they know you comming they only to glad to assist. Go visit the CTRL tower while there.

If go to Bfn, remember to route below TMA and to Soetdoring on way out. the new BFN CTR is incorrect on the maps. Soetdoring is due north Tempe where Bultfontien road crosses the river comming for the Krugersdrift dam. Routing via WMV makes sector reporting easier...

Enjoy it. Go high over the mountains. The winds can be baie K@K low (<1500ft above the ground) over the mountains. Once over the "koppies" there not much to look at. Low level over the free state vlaktes can be bumpy as hell and watch the wind. I had a 30kt headwind last week. Can make fuel planning a bit  ..

POST PICS...
