Yes, you KNOW guys who have flown around the world, but what is YOUR longest distance flight

Anyway, I have no shortage of decent planes to fly :D so there was no real rush, and I prefer to train on a school plane, not my own

Ok, so this thread degenerated for awhile.
Ok, so this thread degenerated for awhile.
Hey Rudi, you sailed with 4 female crew members and still managed to rescue a damsel in distress halfway around the world !! My best was 5 nurses onboard in Durban for the weekend – hell, with all that expertise onboard, I didn’t even get tooth ache !!
Seriously, Rudi – did you do Chagos in the digital era. All my photos are the old print version. If you come across any of Chagos in digital format, please be sure to copy me. Maybe I should look up VQ7 on the net. I hear that the Chagoseans want to QSY back to Chagos. My QSL Card for ZS5WG has a photo of my yacht WHISKEY GALORE anchored against Boddem Island in the Solomon Atoll at Chagos.
Rudi – there is nothing sweeter, nicer, greener or more beautiful that Chagos anywhere in the world – do you agree?

I did take a digital camera but it was first generation, nowhere close to todays quality. I also lost some photos when a laptop got wet in a storm, but that was before Chagos. I will scan a few of my negatives and see what we can get.
I used V51VE/mm while on the yacht, we were flying a Namibian flag. Managed to get plenty pile-ups, just sad that I never really operated from Chagos ! Yes, I have heard that the locals might go back there, I always thought that I should "aquire" one of those islands for myself, what a life that would be ! I agree, the islands are fantastic, I also loved the Marshall islands and French Polynesia was also awesome but Chagos was so special because while we were there they were "our" islands !
BTW, love the name of your yacht !
I also managed to have a tooth sorted out at the USA base, very friendly and treated us like royalty ! I suppose that was more for the crew's benefit than mine :D
Oh, on the crew, just to set the record right, I did not sail all the way round with them, first I had one lady as crew, she left in Aussie, had enough after a bad storm, put her on a plane home and then put up a notice that I need crew. Had more than 80 applications, was REAL difficult to choose ! Rescuing Tanya ? what can I say, the pleasure was all mine ! When you meet her you will see.........
What, no medical problem with 5 nurses, I am sure I would have developed some "problem"

Ok, back to work for me, have a big presentation in the morning.

Safe flying,
Rudi

Sitrep is very grave. Taken down my TH3. My 5-Band dipole has fallen down. Hadeda’s have bent by 6M Yagi. My G5RV is hanging off a palm tree. My 4 HF rigs have not been switched on for some 3 years. Same for my 8 or so 2M rigs. My CW paddles are covered in dust.
Must really find a weekend and fire things up.
So, no sorry, can’t QSO on 40M to ZS6 land at this stage. Packet radio become a little antiquated for me and I haven’t done much on 70cms yet.
