Some believe the "gyro" wing throws too little shade.--- Get a hat and sunscreen.
Other's feel there is too much gyroscopic effect on the aircraft. Nothing serious. I went Solo after 5 hours
Other's in turn thinks it's too drafty– not more than a trike or t-bird –Get a flight suit or one of SARAF gyro’s
Othrs feel the take-off is too long – how long is too long . Doesn’t help if you can take off on a ticky but are not able to handle the turbulence that goes with a big wing. The zero ground roll also make up for the take off.
and then of course there are those that think a "gyro" is just plain kaaak - They have never flown in a Gyro. I have done a trip to Walkerson at Dullstroom landed with a 35 mile an hour 90 degree Cross mountain rotor wind on an uphill runway at 12h30 . Your rotor is turning at more that 300 km/h. A 30 km/h have a 10 % effect on your wing. With a micro that is flying at 60 km/h it will have a 50 % effect on the wing.
So as i said with all the people being against it makes me more determined to be a "Gyronaut". -All the best here is a link to one of my trips. http://sagpa.co.za/sagpa/content/view/64/60/
Try to fly with Josua Groenewalt at 303 Squadron Brakpan he has done +- 2000 hours on Gyro’s and has a night rating on Gyro’s and commercial PPL with another 1500 hours on Blik aeries. Mirek from the same school is a SAA pilot , gyro test pilot , type rated on hundreds of planes and Glider pilot.
TEMPORARILY GROUNDED !!

Does this hold true for headwinds too?t-bird wrote:Your rotor is turning at more that 300 km/h. A 30 km/h have a 10 % effect on your wing. With a micro that is flying at 60 km/h it will have a 50 % effect on the wing.
re
With a gusting headwind the gusting effect will be minimal, no wing drops etc.
But your ground speed will still be slower.
A tail wind will increase your ground speed.
Same as 3-axis without the bumps.
