It is quite serious to make sure radios are Icasa approved. And also have your approved handheld registered to your name. Not to long ago a friend of mine had his handheld confiscated because he did not have it registered to his name at icasa.

Does it mean that all these private used ICASA approved radios ( Not Airband ) must be registered in your name as well?

No that I can't answer. But airband is more serious and restricted. No unlicensed user may possess an airband radio without an licence. As I understand you will get locked up...

By Icasa inspector and police. You have to register all airband radios you have to your name

Re: ** Brand New ** Yaesu FTA-230 Airband Radios
I heard that a guy was parked at ORT, taking photographs of aircraft, using his Airband Radio to receive approach information.
The police pulled up next to him (because he was parked there, probably) and spoke to him a bit then arrested him.
The only time you are likely to get into trouble with an Airband Radio is if you have not done your radio license.
If a Radio is ICASA Approved (the importer, manufacturer or distributor gets approval) you are allowed to have/use it - as long as you are duly licensed.
So, no. As I understand the ICASA Act you do not need to register your radio - you just need to be licensed to have (own/operate) it.
