Oom Boet, maak vir my n cowling vir die Raven....maar hy moet soos n turbine s'n lyk. Of so iets, en wheelspats en n cuff tussen die vlerk en die romp en en en. So I got busy. Clean slate. Engine already fitted, all wired and piped up and ready to growl. Will I take the plastic bag make it on the engine route, NOPE. Once had a leak through of Poly urethane on an engine. Oh bugger. Took me bloody ages to clean it out. The damn stuff went everywhere. No, different aproach this time.... So this is where it all started. If you are interested, I will continiue.

Hi Boet,

Have you checked the CG of that installation? Mount looks a bit short to me. Would be a pity to make a nice cowl, and then discover the CG is off. Trust me, I know .

Justin, point taken. The prop hub extension is about 8 inches. Done for the look. The aeroplane has already been assembled and weighed. The CG is A OK.

Next step will be to pour some poly u foam around the frame. A messy job.

Interesting. Looks shorter all round than mine with the Jab3300 on. But that shape looks awesome - gonna be a real looker.

Boet, dit lyk baie mooi!! ek het al fotos van die verf gesien, so jy moet post dat mense jou mooi werk sien..!!

Daai enjin mount is reg. Dis dieselfdte Zenith factory mount wat ek op my Raven het en het geen probleem met die CG..

Iewers binne in hierdie lump, skuil daar n cowling vir n Raven. Net gaan soek.....

Prop extension is 4 inches. En Justin, die engine mount is gebou volgens Zodiac spec vir 912 with correct size 4130 tubing .

And now I am searching inside that block for a cowling. Still a moerse lot of sanding to be done. Dirty work. Those poly-u powder goes in EVERYWHERE.

Side note. Aeroplanes built with pop rivits have 1000`s of little :batteries" imbedded into the skins. Inside every pop rivit hole, sits a piece of steel. Dissimilar metal, plus water= Catode+anode+ water= very tiny electric current. I have seen some of them start to rust. So I suggested we close all those little (Crappy-looking anyway) rivit holes with epoxy, sand them smooth and painted over it does not look like a pop rivit anymore. Watertight, and it really came out very well. BUT it is quite a time consuming job!!
