I find biking like triking on the road, can't explain to non-bikers the feeling of freedom of the open road on a bike...

Got a 2007 BMW R1200GS black & silver (like my trike!)

Only started biking recently mainly for commuting to try lighten the fuel costs a little (my TOY bakkie is heavy on juice 6km/l no matter that it's diesel! :()

Still finding this bike a little heavy to handle (not a beginner bike it seems)

I "put her down softly" 3 times already (once she decides to go down there's no stopping her unless you're built like Schwarzenegger :)), no damage to the bike as I have crash bars, just damage to the ego

Happy triking/biking!

Cheers
Ant

Anthony,
I can strongly recommend a BMW rider academy course.

http://www.bmwmotorrad.co.za/Web/RiderA ... ourseid=11

I've been riding for many years and I still attend this 1 day course every 2 years. It's massive fun and has saved my live on more than one occassion.
It is hosted at Zwartkops raceway and at the end of the day you get some time on the track as well vhpy

Jip another biker/pilot in my shoes. Using an Aprilia RSV1000R. Brilliant trackday bike with handling and brakes you can count on. Very strong out of the corners and on acceleration. a Bit slower than most Jap 1000's in a long straight line, but top speed don't win races. 295 On the speedo, that is close to correct, is almost fast enough. Also like the 4x4 thing, camping and going to the bundu's. Nothing like nature and wild life. Time is the biggest enemy.

Wow. I've just gone through this thread again and got all sweaty palmed. I've acquired two bikes since the last post. A K3 1000 suz which was a monster. Couldn't get comfy with the power. Just to much bike for me. Now scraping through the twisties on a K3 600. Way more fun. I'm still under the illusion that I'm as fast as always.

Nice bikes FalconP1 and Tailspin!

So I added 3 TransAlps, XL500S (for restoration), NC700 (for the wife) and a Varadero (my current steed) to my original list. Think I am done buying bikes for now.

Going to do a nice long trip to Gariep the 25 SEP 2015 for the annual Wild Dog bash, going to be a lekker ride!

Nice Gav and J.

I'm also restoring a 1980 RD350 LC to concourse condition. Long project but enjoying it.

Are you guys aware of the Thousand Bike Show taking place on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of July. I'm definitely attending. (^^)

I love bikes...I had my fair share of fun with my bike

My first and only bike I had was a Suzuki GSX-R 750 K5 20th Anniversary Edition.Really insane power and very light compared to many bikes.
I only really got comfortable with the bike after 8 months then I took her to the track where I learned alot..changed my riding forever..after many track days it felt like I was a king on the road as there was not a twisty on the road that came close to track..the Kromdraai twisties as well as he Nelspruit twisties were insaaaane ##

Came short(high sided) twice..once at Kyalami and once at Midvaal..loved the breakfast runs ##

Must say the fastest and most powerful bike I ever rode and thoroughly enjoyed was the DNA Kawasaki ZX10 2010 model as it had a power commander, quick shifter, racing sprockets and chain and all the other bells and whistles..did 135km/hr in 1st gear, second and third the front wheel came up on pure power..clocked at 299km/hr in 5th gear and still had plenty revs left after I hit 6th gear...now that was aaawweeessssome =D*

One breakie run to Deneysville I rode past CIrcus where a trike flew overhead...I could not stop staring at it and that is when I got hooked..Called Jo, did a demo and that was it..I was in it for sure.

Not long after, I sold my bike to buy Jo's trike... ##

Below are a couple pics of my awesome Gixxer...
