Kitfox Agent
Kitfox Agent
I would like to know who is the official Kitfox agent in South Africa. I know they went bust again in the States but have been bailed out. I really would like to find out who our local active agent is. I know was but who's handling it now?

The Eurofox agents now look after the Kitfox market and aftersales. I cant find my SA Flyer and African Pilot books now
but I know they advertised in there. Eitian Ooshuizen is the salesman in Nelspruit.

I believe Monty Jefferies from Bushbaby will also be able to assist. Kitplanes for Africa.

Got in touch with a guy in Nelspruit Harry Tucker and there doesn't seem to be too much he can do for me either. My problem is like this. Got the Kitfox with 46 hours total time. The previous guy took the 582 out that he built it with and replaced it with a 618. He got a 10 hour authority to fly on condition he submitted .... Substantiation data regarding the 618 in the Kitfox Mk3.....The installation instruction (which is exactly the same as the 582!)....Flight performance at altitude. The last one is doable send Johan up and let him do his thing. I'm not getting any help from anybody in this regard including the guy who sold me the plane or the guy who fitted the 618 in. So at the moment I got an airrie that flies great and my finger is you know where! I've also been in touch with with the new Kitfox owners in the states and they probably could help only with the Kitfox Mk4.

Boet's the man for us in die Kaap for most things , but Ill do the test flying for you - arrange the paperwork, worst case is well have to do a 40hr proving flight... and submit perf info plus W&B
Thats what i had to do when a swapped out the 532 and put in the 582 on the trike - bloody daft but there you go
Also LvW at FAFK had a 618 in his BB so I should be able to get us some performance dope on flying paramaters
Chill China ......

I think in CAA english that means that they would like me substantiate that the 618 Rotax motor is okay to be fitted in the Kitfox Mk3 by suppling them with all the technical data from the manufacturers of the Kitfox....catch the drift here now? The history behaind Kitfox I think is like this, it was originally Denny Aircraft ...then bought out by Flightstar which has gone bust...which has been bailed out by somebody John Mcbean and he cannot supply me with the information on the Mk3 only the Mk4. So thats where I'm sitting. Did have a chat today with the CAA lets see what happens now! I know that when you ordered a kit you had the choice of the whole Rotax range so I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I've paid for my authority to fly the money is gone and I have no authority to fly from them. Frustrating to say the least!
Thanks skidmark. I used to own a Kitfox and sold just before Skystar went bust.
I believe that the McBeans are also not the best in service. Have a mate of mine here in PE trying to get some help from them for his KFIV, and it does not appear that they are doing a heck of a lot to get the brand re-established.
The gen you are looking for could be put together by yourself. Would probably mean doing some climb tests and recording your rate of ascent at each 1000 ft. Repeated both solo and with pax (or essential crew in this case). Also recording engine temps and RPMs at each 1000 ft interval.

So Far ........
I have been down a long road and have eventually dicovered ...I think what is required. I need the Rotax 618 installation Instruction Manual to forward to the CAA so that have it on file. Secondly the signed part of my logbook where the person responsible for the installation signed and stamped all that information. Finally the latest weights and balance!!!
It appears as I'm lead to believe this is all I need to to now get my authority to fly. So now off I go in search of the manual the rest is done!!
