Rotax 582 Problem

Postby salem » Sun Mar 08, 2015 6:26 pm

After I switch off the ignition switch, both magneto switches and the electric fuel pump switch, the prop keeps turning very slowly for about 10-15 seconds. Any ideas what the problem could be? How do I solve it? I'd really appreciate some help!

Your starter properly earthed? Battery all good? Test it, new batteries comes with a 3 month warrentee for a reason.

Sounds like an earth/ electrical problem to me .
I suggest you check all wires and connecters , Alex

Not sure about 2 strokes. In a 4 stroke, I would suspect excess carbon/lead deposits in the combustion chamber, and/or incorrect spark plug. Either of these will cause serious damage to the engine if not attended to.

Salem...is the engine still firing after you kill the spark? You should be able to hear it if this is the case?....Then I tend to agree with Alex...could be a bad earth on one or both magnetos.

If not, then what does the compression feel like when you turn the prop? If your compression is very low then the prop will take much longer to stop dead.

Ours takes 2-3 seconds from switches off to dead stop.
