Pitlamata is Henk Koster's strip. 13/31. 750m usable. He flies a Jabi 450. Very nice guy, sure he will accommodate you in an emergency. Just get prior permission. 0832797826. Powerlines on both tholds.

Thanks Dawid. (^^)

Small change of plan on our side....Troy will not be joining us, he is going to a friend for the weekend.

I will see you bright and early Sat morning, Maxine will be leaving P Town at about 7 am and meet us at Leeukop.
Weather still looking great....looks like a little tailwind for the "tailwinds" for most of the way... can prob expect a crosswind landing at Leeukop but hey that why we practice them! (!!)

Thanks for posting your route option Paul, I agree it is the most direct route but I would prefer if possible to stay clear of the buffer zone and Springs by following the green belt to the east. I just feel it is a safer route around that specific section... albeit slightly longer. Lots of open space and options.

See pic....but I'm prepared to fly either one if that's what the group decides. :) No worries. Frank...this is your "home route"...what's gonna be the best mate? (!!)

I don't have strong views about route but I normally fly just east of buffer zone and then turn South west after crossing N17 then fly North of Heidelburg across Suikerbosrand. Lets fly Alan's route. A little bit further but with a few more outlanding options in case of engine out. We can stop at Springs (122.4) or Heidelburg (125.9) if we are too cold.
See you guys at microland nice and early with thermal underwear and thick gloves.

Cheers Frank

Anyway is good. The distance in relation to safety is irrelevant. We fly a loose gaggle anyway.

I will be packing tomorrow pm. Now I can take more booze.. 8)

Hi Bundy,

I'm ZU-INC. Don't think I'll meet up with you east of springs, more like in the region of the Suikerbosrand or just south of there. I'll fly directly south from Brakpan, over the eastern part of the Suikerbosrand but to the west of Heidelberg airfield.

Just let me know when you are ready to roll, I'm reckoning it will take you at least 45 mins to reach the Suikerbosrand area.

So lekker to meet you all at Heidelberg this morning. Our timing was perfect. First time I heared you guys was when we were all in circuit on 125.9. (^^) (^^)

Another awesome Tailwinds getaway. (!!)

Paul, pity you couldn't make it, we certainly did miss the "Mulder madness"....but there will be another! (^^)

Thanks so much for hosting us Frank and Sharon, wow...we got seriously spoilt!....I'm definitely going to invite you guys again! ^

Weather was great. Took off from FABA with Nick and Frank and we routed via east of Springs to Heidelberg. We met up there with a lonely looking Gyro driver with a funny accent and all headed off again for Leeukop. 3 Samoosa's and a flingwing....landed RWY 12 and after the usual tying down etc, we headed off for a brekkie. Belly full, we took Paul back to the airfield and we saw him off as he flew his Gyro back to Brakpan Airfield. Thanks for joining us Paul! Always lekker to mix it up with our Gyro mate. (!!)

Well...as Paul disappeared towards the north.... by this time we were of course getting thirsty and needless to say..... "what happens on tour.....stays on tour!".... ^
(I was relieved to come home with my underpants intact this time! ## ## )

Up early and we headed off to prep and get airbourne for home. Another perfect day for flying this morning and we decided to do a flight over the Vaal Dam before heading back to FABA again. The Vaal is simply stunning with the sun shimmering over the various bays and creeks.... makes Dronkwordspruit look like a koi pond! We arrived overhead Heidelberg at exactly the same time as Paul who had flown down to meet us....impeccable timing! Of course I put this down to our amazing flight planning skills!

Landed back at FABA in a gentle 7 knts....all safe and sound.

Great weekend, great company and as always a pleasure to explore the sky with you hooligans. (^^)
Thanks chaps, I had a ball. (!!)

Well done to all, what a great weekend.

Thank you very much to Frank and Sharon for your hospitality me and Jana both had a great time (^^) (^^)

When we took off from microland Saturday morning I was already almost frozen but after our 15 minute circuit at Heidelburg I was completely frozen, die blik aeries vlieg dam wye circuits jong (**)

Apart from the cold though the weather was amazing, smooth as silk there and back.
I did manage to find Franks prop wash which woke me up very quickly (**)

The sunday morning over the Vaal dam was one of my best flights ever, but I can see why they call it "Die VAAL dam" 8)

With the amount of clothes I had I could not move to take view pictures in the air but here is what I have:
