Yes,

go to http://www.weathersa.co.za/, select Aviation from the top, then select VFR/IFR Flights, select Low Level wind profiles and choose a station near you

some more info to that: The winds and temps are actuals from the weather balloons. These balloons are sent up twice a day, at 0000Z and 1200Z. The red line indicates the lapse rate, which is an indication of stability etc. The winds are obviously also actual winds as measured whilst the balloon ascended.

Forecast winds can be obtained if you click the following pages on the weathersa website: On the Aviation page click onto AEROSPORT page. There you have two options. Either the Spot Graph map, or the Forecast Areas Map.
Both options give forecast winds at different levels and times.

Regards,
Arnulf

Hi Demon,

I remember a post a while back where you ask somebody which
weather website he used . This is my favorite, try this one if you don’t already know it:

http://wwwa.accuweather.com/world-forec ... 6&metric=1

This is a 3 day forecast and is at least 62% correct, and I like the way they present the hourly wind strength and direction .They even have Piet Retief on their list , so I assume they will have most small towns.

It is amazing how much less wind you have compared to us on the escarpment.
I assume you don’t have 16-meter high forests right next to your runway, which make cross wind landings interesting. Just a warning when you decide to visit some day ,as promised.

Congrats on the new plane, must admit it sounds and look like the ultimate in trike flying .

Sorry seems like the link doesn’t work completely, doesn’t like the vertical lines.

On the page you get, type in the white block:

“johannesburg , south africa” click on “go”

wait for new screen

In the “ Hour-By-Hour” section click on the purple

“Johannesburg Hourly Forcast” .

This will take you to the screen I want you to see.

Save as favorite.

en MOER lekker om in te vlieg!

The colder the better the performance! More lift as a result of the lower pressure altitude.

Get a suit, "lose" the baggage and come out to Aviators Paradise Sunday morning early!

Big D is coming out with me to scope out the surrounds, we are leaving Fourways at 05:45.... Planned take off at 07:00. will be calling ZU-AXC on freq 124.8 - might cross over the ridge weather and weight permitting to special rules west.

For those that do not know where Aviatiors Paradise is - download Google Earth from http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html and click the attachment below... double click it after you have installed Google Earth!
