WOW what an experience!!! both the flying aswell as the zip line!!
The zip line reached 160km/h over 2000meters in distance. They attach a vertical stab to your legs so that you track straight..... its an AWESOME experience!!!! Very professional and a great bunch of guys who manage the event!!
The flight there was cool, stable and although cloudy, a nice flight. The flight back was SCARY to say the least! - we were playing dodgems with mother nature and her thunder storms!! we had to divert 100miles to get around all the storms from the red and white radio mast, vaalkop dam, and through the pinedene route, so we eventually flew over the CBD around past RAND and home -- at some point we were flying in the tail of two of the storms, and in the rain ... its scary, but somewhat stable.... the visbility sucks and you have to use sight through the doors of the cheetah - which is fine as they are big enough to see plenty!
What impressed me was how able the cheetah is In rain .... not to mention the heavy rock and roll just before we got into the rainy parts - we were approximately 7miles away from the storm flying in a southerly direction and the storm was blowing in a northerly direction which was just enough to still get rained on ..... just before you get near the storm the wind and updraft is massive! We climbed almost 250feet in about 5 seconds - you get thrown around a lot but the cheetah is more than capable!
What an aerie -- if only I had enough space to keep her!!!
