Jeez what a dismal WCMC meeting turnout !

Postby Junkie » Thu Jun 29, 2006 4:56 pm

I know its winter guys .. but where are the WC microlighters...

Lots of exciting and interesting things WILL be happening including WC ML Champs around September time

Construction of the new clubhouse at MS will probably start as soon as the rainy seasons over and we are going to need lots of support in time and materials from members.

We also need volunteer workparties to assist with cleanup and maintenace of Morningstar field

To those that have lapsed or lost interest.. ## >;(((
this is just vrotski....  ^?^ :-(-(

Pay your sub and attend the meetings
YOU can make the difference ;);) -0<

Ian,

With all respect to you & the chairman.

Although management issues need to be discussed at meetings, last night was yet another free for all. I think I will give it a miss for a couple of months - will the pub and the meeting area be in the same area in the new club as well?

Count me in for a Saturday's work in cleaning up MS.

Well, its simple. Close the pub while the meeting is on. :x

This is the first time I've been involved in a club where that is allowed. (Have been secretary to some other flying clubs) Have a short and constructive meeting and then everybody can drink till sunrise.

Was at a function for Mrs Morph's company and I'm away this weekend so no cleanup help from me i'm afraid.

wrt the meetings, they do get out of hand. I agree with Free Spirit, we should close the bar. Also I don't think it is neccessary to have an hour or two session everytime. In another club I belong to every 3rd meeting is a proper meeting, the other two are socials.

Have to agree about the bar flies. One of the reasons I stopped attending. I think the best meetings are at Stef's hanger on a Saturday.

Good feedback - sure is frutrating for us Guys sitting up front too - believe me. :? :?
I agree about the format / structure of meetings.. The new clubhouse is also open plan so the only way is as you say to have seperate meetings and/or closing the bar. Should we have plans changed and delay the new clubhouse till next year?

BUT bearing in mind that if your more interested in socials than meetings, as most seem to be - WHERE WAS EVERYBODY !!!

Is their some other underlying reason.. Is it the kind of social/meeting only or the people thats at the root of the problem here?

If your only coming to club meetings for information then yes it will definately be a challenge --

This weeks meeting was an important one- even though it was again decided to postpone the Morningstar issues voting till August to give everyone more time to ponder and make suggestions... so next meeting is social, the following one for business ok ! :D

My feeling is that the opportunity to reorganise / rejuvenate club is when the new clubhouse is built as MS.

... and if anyone out there is sure they will make better chairperson and secretary then please step up to the plate - Zirk & I will be too only too happy to oblige :P

ill ask Leslie to publish the Meeting Calandar in each Newsletter, for next 6 - 12 months which will indicate Social vs Club Business meetings
& also announce that pub is closed until meeting is closed - Will mean earlier start say 07:00 to 08:00 on those days

My suggestion is to have every alternate meeting a proper one and the others social. Do not postpone any plans!!! The sooner we can get to MS, the better.

Re the bad attendence. I think the serious club members stay away because the meetings are not conducted properly. To them its just a waste of time. Frankly to me as well, but staying away is not the answer. That means the club will be taken over by the bar flies :( :( :( . So this is a challenge to all members: Management closes the bar during meetings and we attend en masse - the only way to get things right. :D :D

Being one of them lapsed ones maybe I should keep quite but I think the bar should be closed until after the formal meeting has finished. That would be one way to keep the meeting short and cut out the wise cracks and heckling from the peanut gallery. Start the meeting a bit earlier and leave the socialising till afterwards.

Agreed

Is WCMC is a drinking club with a flying problem?

I did not want to reinstate the Prohibition, but either the meetings are either about flying (such as the couple where video's were shown, flying issues are discussed etc) or management or socialising. A three in one does not work.

As far as management issues are concerned. These should be published on the WCMC web site, (paid up) members can post their opinions on the website, and after a suitable time (paid up) members can vote the issue at the meeting. No debate at that time - opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. Just let them vote!

No, I did not suggest that Ian or Zirk isn't doing a great job. They are just having a difficult time controlling the mob.
