I think you can buy a whole new plane for that moneyTYRONS08 wrote:..... but needs to be recovered for R 320 000
Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two
Re: Question about high hour cheetah
The price for a new skin sounds too high.
we just had a complete wing cover replaced and it is ca R 10k....
Talk to Mike at Skyreach...
Fantastic aircraft - you will never regret buying a Cheeatah!
Good luck!

Re: Question about high hour cheetah
McCracken the problem is the jabiru engine... No offense, it doesn't come close to the rotax... By perception in the market place that is.
Tyron the hours are high but the engine and avionics are the best. The covering sure it costs money but that's anothern10 year guarantee.... Then again how old is the plane, the covering should be under warranty still.....

Re: Question about high hour cheetah
You know, 800 hours is 800 hours (in the sun, exposed to UV)
My Cheetah has 1105 hours on it, needs to be recovered with Trylam sometime (even thought the covering still passes its tests!)
You may have made a typo as a total recover will be in the region of R 32 000 if I could guess!

Re: Question about high hour cheetah
I think he meant the plane cost R320k, not the cost of recovering it.

Re: Question about high hour cheetah
Just missing a simple comma to let the sentence read differently...
I did the upgrade to 912ULS to from 582 exercise (calculations!!!!) almost a year and a half ago and it is rather pricey to say the least!
Get a 912ULS motor (one being advertised for R 125 000 on AVCOM - could have got a motor for R 75 000 at the time!)
The upgrade on the current installation from cowlings, mounts, oil cooler, water cooler, Kiev prop, instruments, wiring etc for around R 70 000
Add the Trylam and ventral mod +- @ R 45 000
We are looking at R 240 000. One can sell the existing prop, 582 and instruments for say R 30 000 - R 40 000. That leaves you with an upgrade expected price of R 200 000.
Needless to say, didn't happen

Re: Question about high hour cheetah
I hear you John ---
The only upgrade to a rotax engine that is worth every penny is the EXTRA high compression pistons -- the performance is the same as the 100HP although its tested at 95HP -- in fact the 95HP EXTRA produces slightly more torque than the 100HPengine due to the increased compression ratio. and the cost is around R6000.00
