Nice Johnorr, the aircraft still seems in good condition vhpy

Make sure the corrosion did not do damage. Pay special attention to the area in the back where the tail wheel and tail surfaces meet. Condensation inside the frame can run down to the back and caurse damage or weaken the structure. Perhaps you should have it x-rayed for corrosion inside the tubes. have a careful inspection of the wing attachment points as well. (the reason why I carry on about corrosion is because I detect rust on the radiator mounting steel tube in one of the pictures, I could be wrong).

The aircraft really looks as good as new. Congratulations (^^)

Keep the photos coming.

Thanks Thys,

Just waiting on parts now but there is a lot of small things to do, so I am not stuck yet.You are right there is some rust on engine mount.
I will arrange a inspection right through.
I took the rudder pedals out and free up the toe brakes it was seized due to rust. The trim cable was completely stuck still looking for a
replacement.
The lift struts will come soon then I need to manufacturer it, quite a delicate process special with measurements.Lucky Rans send me a complete
building manual and the plans is easy and clear to understand.
I decided to get all the material from Rans, to get the right grade of material here in Thailand is more than a headache.
I like the Rans and looking forward to get it in a flying state.

Thanks for your advice Thys it is welcome.

Hallo Johnorr,

The Rans looks fantastic! Keep up the good work (^^) (^^)

Why is the cooling radiator mounted on the rear of the aircraft? Is that the position that the factory suggests? I found on mine, with 2 persons, baggage and full fuel, that the CG was near the rear limit. My radiator was mounted under the engine mount in the nose. Just confirm with Rans before you continue.

Good luck with the project and keep the pictures coming (^^)

Hello Thys,
You are right about radiator with the 582 engine it sits in the front on the engine mount but I decided to install a 912 and then you move the radiator to the belly.
The frame already got mounts welded on there as standard practice.
I will get a 912 100Hp and a special prop from Argentina. Also oil system and new intake manifolds which is a fully acrobatic installation with a single carburetor injector.
This S 10 can do all what a Pitts special can do just at a lower speed which is less stress on the pilot's body. All what I do on it is in the Rans building manual and I am also in contact with Randy the designer of this aircraft.
Rans is parked now I am on my way to work again for another four weeks. First one hour flight to Bangkok then 3 hour flight to Jakarta then three hour flight to Matak helicopter base in a company plane a Dash 8 then one hour in chopper Skykorsky 76+ Then my destination metal island in the sea rig Wildcat which is my second home.
I post a few pictures.

That Rans really looks good (^^) (^^) (^^) Thank you for the pictures vhpy

Sorry, I must have missed the 912 engine installation and the obvious placement of the cooling radiator. The 912 is heavier than the 2-stroke hence the balancing trick.

Good luck with the work away from your Rans (**)

Hello, you can buy a cd from Rans, check on their web page http://www.rans.com the email is parts@rans.com you can talk to Eddie very friendly and helpful person.
On the cd is a full parts manual and a text manual operating hand book is under text.
It is printable and you can make your own books.

Congratulations (^^) on your new plane. Please post a few photos I like the S-10 so much I cannot see enough of it.

For the instructor you can pm Thys Bas on this forum, I think he new about a instructor.
Happy hours with your Rans S-10.

Hi Poerieventer, welcome on the forum. Congrats on your purchase. Did you buy the one which was for sale at Wonderboom? Do you have a tail wheel rating? PM me, we can talk.

Hi Johnorr, Are you still far away from your Rans? When do you expect to be back?

Hello Thys,

Thanks for good wishes on the work. Bit hard two build the 2 planes at the same time but I choose it so no complains.

Yes we must try to get Poerieventer to have coffee with us .The Rans S 10 folks is not many.

I am in contact with Ernesto from Argentina he is the leader of their acrobatic team they got 12 Rans S-10's !

I bought some parts of him intake manifolds and oil system ,will buy a prop too from him . Made in Argentina.
The prop is special made for S10, it is a wood prop
covered with fiber glass and the leading edge is covered with stainless steel. $850.00 for one.
This prop give the Rans very good performance in all kinds of maneuvering.

Will let you know about my visit to SA. sure.

Best Regards.
