My 582 Blue top, blue is coming of. Someone told me it's not a blue top but silver top.
Is there a way on the engine nr. or serial nr. to make sure what type engine it is?
The logbook state blue top, but Hey who know's.

Folla, The mod 99 (blue head) has a different cooling system. It has a water pipe from the top to the bottom of the engine. (See diagram). It also has a harmonic damper on the flywheel. Most blue heads are set up for oil injection. Many of the older grey heads do not have a provision for oil injection.
To be 100% sure contact Comet Aviation with your engine serial number.

Never heard or seen a "harmonic damper" on a 582..mulderpm wrote: It also has a harmonic damper on the flywheel.

Perhaps you meant "hydro damper" but then the mod 90 (silver) and mod 99 (blue) both have those
Airspeed, altitude, or brains....you always need at least two
