06/06/06 - EAA WELCOMES CESSNA’S INTEREST IN LSA MARKETPLACE
EAA welcomes Cessna Aircraft Company’s participation in light-sport aircraft activities at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2006, following today’s announcement by Cessna that it will have a full-scale, proof-of-concept aircraft at AirVenture as it studies the possibility of producing a light-sport aircraft.
“We are pleased Cessna has chosen EAA AirVenture Oshkosh to showcase its proof-of-concept LSA to the public,†said Tom Poberezny, EAA president. “This is another step toward expanding the light-sport aircraft marketplace, which continues to grow since the sport pilot/light-sport aircraft rule became effective less than two years ago.â€Â
Cessna’s proof-of-concept LSA will be displayed on the south side of AeroShell Square at EAA AirVenture.
“EAA spent more than a decade helping the sport pilot/light-sport aircraft rule become a reality, and the organization is dedicated to making it a success for the individual aviation enthusiast as well as the industry,†Poberezny said. “Cessna’s interest in this segment of the aviation market reinforces the importance of our efforts to help people enjoy safe, fun flight.â€Â
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh will take place at Wittman Regional Airport on July 24-30. The LSA Mall, where attendees can discover and compare all of the aircraft available under the new rule, will be open daily throughout the weeklong event.
