6 June 1944 D-Day

Postby Junkie » Tue Jun 06, 2006 1:44 pm

Anyone got any good D Day flying stories or pictures

Probably not relevant to many and it seems so remote, yet almost everyday we are reminded by some flying machine or event of those times . Many young men and woman on all sides of the conflict sacrificed their lives for what they hoped would be a better world.... (somehow dont think weve learned from it either)

My ol' man ran the gauntlet up Sword beach and got straffed and Dive bombed many times by ME's & JU's. At one airfield his platoon came across rows of German planes just standing there abandoned, so they promply blew them to smithereens    .

What a waste!!! we would cry today hey
