Maybe I should clarify my previous post. Instruments are an aid to flying, sometimes a very important aid! What I was trying to convey is that the PIC should be able to manage his A/C to such an extent that he is able to return safely back to base, with airframe and engine running. :)

This in no means justifies flying when you know your fitted instruments are defective, nor when you have limited logged hours and neither when you lack situational awareness. ##

I have a concern that next week some young F16 wannabe pulls a stunt and then says, " But the guys on MLers do it !!!" ## ##

It is a handy instument even if you are able to fly by your pants.
I like to make use of it.
