Coffee at Jakkalsdans

Postby kloot piloot » Wed Dec 12, 2012 9:38 pm

Now that Louis has posted this invite:

"Now that you spoilt Microlanders with your long runways know that it is a mere 40 min. flight to me, how about coffee and muffins in the near future on a slightly more challenging runway?"

Should we not react to this invite ? This is an airstrip within easy reach for a quick morning visit. Centrally located from ML, Rieties, Aeroden, Rosslyn and Brits.

For all of us not going away this holiday, let's do it. Louis has a beautifull strip next to the river and the weather is only getting better.

Louis, wat dink jy ? You make muffins, we bring coffee or vice versa ?

I call Jakkalsdans Louis' little piece of Heaven....stunning spot.

Your "wingman" will be there depending on the date Mr Cole.

Let's make it in Jan...most guys buggering off to the beach now anyway.

Challenging runway (Just because they are short) yes, but no reason why it cant be done, just be mindful of the wires on the Northern side. Located just inside the Lanseria CTR, the tower knows Louis so just need to chat to ATC before entry and tell them where you going. I'm sure Louis will give us some proper details/procedures when he sets a date.

Looking forward to it. Nice little practice run through controlled airspace. (^^)

Sorry Lone Ranger, with there being only 60" in a minute, I am not sure what 869 and 940 refer to! :?

The standard and most commonly used formats are:
1. 25°52' 86"S 27°54' 94"E (degrees, minutes and seconds)
2. 25°52,869'S 27°54,940'E (degrees, minutes and fraction of minute)

Please can you explain.

Many thanks, John.com

John thanks for pointing that out. The fingers were a fraction of a second quicker than the brain at the time. By the way you guys are welcome to drop by anytime for coffee. I am mostly at home so just give me a call at 0824130476 if you're looking for a new destination. Less than 15 min. from the dam. Lanseria is very accommodating and just require a call when inbound. Jakkalsdans is about 4.8 miles NW of Lanseria. (^^)

Hey Louis! Will you be in tomorrow (Sunday) morning?
I am trying to round up a gaggle to fly in to your airstrip!

Anyone interested?

For those coming from the north can I suggest mustering over Pecanwood at 6.30am before heading due south to Jakkalsdans!

OK, whose in, pending the OK from Louis?

Neale, I've got you down.

Cheers, John.com

Hi John you guys are welcome for tomorrow morning. Coffee will be waiting. I'll give Lanseria a call to let them know that a couple of trikes will be flying in. Use Rwy. 30 (180 m.) across the river to land but beware of power lines at the end (Rwy12) and allow space for trikes ahead to taxi back before next landing. You have a nice long approach and don't land too deep. Roel you are welcome next weekend.

TC I have a X-rwy. Rwy. 30/12 approximately 180 m. that I generally land on and 05/23 approximately 280 m. that I generally take off from. Unfortunately both have power lines at the end. No problem for the Raptor but I don't know enough about the Quicks. Flo has landed here before with his school trike and he would be able to advise you better. Would love to meet you and see a GT land here.

Thanks a lot Louis!

4am, we're up and heading out to the field! Weather permitting we'll see you a little later. Expect an inspection run over RNWY 30.

Hi Anthony!

Not sure whether "fight" was a Freudian slip!

"Yaa-well-no-fine", as they say in the classics! Let's just say, well at least IMHO, Jakkalsdans is NOT for GTs!!

I will update on my landing shortly . . . . . not pretty!!!

Stand by . . . .
