Flew 35 minutes yesterday afternoon. Windy but steady, not too bumpy. Fun until had to dodge a little yellow aeroplane with a 78-year-old pilot and no radio. :) :)

56 Minutes on Friday afternoon taking the daughter and then her boyfriend along the beach. :D

I had huge anticipations for Saturday, which mr weatherman said would be mild northerly, turned into a howling Easterly turning NE. One of our guys was going up to Loeriesfontein to visit Boet in his Bush Baby. After 45 min and just over Malmesbury with an airspeed of 75 and a ground speed of 43 he gave up and came back. I used the opportunity to do maintenance. :x
Sunday was Puuuuuurfect and mommy wouldn't let me go play. Used some excuse about a lunch date with some friends. Really the excuses they will come up with :!:

Clocked 2 hours at Klipriver late Saterday afternoon - had 8 people :o wanting to go for a flip, some of them had never flown before in their lives  . Had a great time flying right till sunset. Took off and the sun came back to view as I gained altitude (unwinding the sunset!!) on the last circuit for the day and watched it set whilst airborne. Did not take any photos so I'll just HAVE to do it again..

Shot down to Virginia for the Air show. Was gr8. Will post pic of the first tandem pits para drop when I figure out where to load pic (Demon?)

WX on Sat at FAGM delayed depart from 6am to 10.30 when I was No. 8 for take off - 26min wait to get airborne. :? Down to La mercy via the Tugela river mouth at FL95, then along the coast low level to La Mercy (www.comefly.co.za). Had 2 wonderful days (best in last 10 years at FAVG) at airshow and back this morning low level along the coast then Rand. Clocked 4 hrs on the dot and did just shy of 600nm (121 litres AVGAS).

Would definitely recommend a visit to Dave and co at La Mercy. Something for everyine - Heli's Trikes, 3 axis, skydive, quads, go carts etc. Real adreneline (sp?) junkies playground...

PS
Thanks to Dave for Hangar and skydive boys for the 50l AVGAS......

PSS
Very nice Supa Decathelon and Stearmans based down there

What did you fly this weekend

Postby Robin Hood » Sun Jul 17, 2005 9:14 am

Had a great trip over our latest World Heritage Site at the Vredefort Dome. Most impressive from the air.

Had breakfast at Parys after leaving Klerksdorp at 0600 with four other trikes. The breakfast at Parys alone makes it worthwhile for you Joeys tipes to fly down and came take a look as well! There is a fair quality dirt strip along the Vaal river in the dome that is great to land at and have coffee.

Total flying time 2hr 46 min. :D :D :D

Anybody know - we had discussion about the legality of flying ove a Heritage Site. Anybody know if it is legal or not?
