Hi Ian,

As long as it is not at sparrows, breakfast at Aeroden on a Saturday is guaranteed, especially now with the December holidays having kicked in!

I would phone Linda and check to make sure!

Sneak Peak of Magaliesberg Weather for the Week Ahead: Mon 10 - Sun 17 Month, 2012

Disclaimer: This weather guide is precisely that, a 'guide'! Use it, but question it, and always do your own research before flying! Remember that it is the PIC's responsibility to conduct an independent check of the weather at the point of departure and destination before taking off!

So, MAGALIEBERG WEATHER (in the Aeroden area) for the week ahead:
Weather - Magaliesberg - 12.12.10-17 - WindGuru - Aeroden 1.jpg

Comments: Not flying weather! Either winds, or low cloud and rain, or both!! I know, you're probably asking the same question that I am . . . . "What happened to the highveld summer we all know . . . . those calm mornings, followed by a hot day, followed by an evening thunderstorm, and then . . . . a calm cool evening?"! If anyone knows the answer, please let us all know!!

CAUTIONARY: Conditions are "No-Fly" for the week, unless you find a window of opportunity somewhere in the week! Please always be alert of thunderstorm activity, typically in the afternoons, but not necessarily! Remember that 25nm from a thunderstorm is the recommended SAFE distance to be maintained AT ALL TIMES by microlight aircraft!! Be aware of localised conditions. Whereas this blog reported Magaliesberg Weather for the Aeroden area as being calm on Saturday morning (8th Dec 2012), there were significant winds at Kroon (27km ENE from Aeroden) resulting in an unfortunate mishap on takeoff by a Bantam 6 (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=20024). SO BEWARE . . . . ALWAYS CHECK LOCAL WEATHER BEFORE TAKING OFF!!! At the end of the day it's between you and the windsock!!

This week I have included the WindGuru Chart Legend at the bottom of this report which will give you a breakdown of what all the information displayed stands for!

Comments: Basically every day is flyable! When the 'winds aloft chart' (second one above) is as 'white' as this (meaning low wind speeds) you must know that we are in for some great flying weather! (^^) So just pic your window carefully with respect to cloud and light rain and enjoy some great flying!

CAUTIONARY: Some low cloud and light rain about!
