Building the Safari in Maputo
We will be building this Safari in Maputo, being our first build this is exciting. One good thing is that we can lean on KFA for tips and advise. A bonus being that Komatipoort is only 100kms from us, however there is a boarder that we need to deal with. It's going to be a challenge as its quite complicate for the Mozambican Customs.
Our plan is to import and build the fuselage in Maputo, get the wings built by KFA, temporary import them to complete the rigging and export them again for completion. That is where the wings will stay until the engine and instruments are fitted. Then it would be required to export her to Komatipoort where KFA will fit the wings and commission her. The registration will be ZU as its gets complicated to register and kit plane in Mozambique, but is possible. Once this beuat is flying she will be based in Maputo.
We got the fuselage on the 28th of October, and only started to prep later that week. I will give an update since then of what has been done and from there onwards I should update weekly.
Any opinions and advice will be great! Cheers

Control column and flap fitted. Spent time on the brass bushes to ensure no play. Had to take about 1mm off the bearings to get a snug fit. Fitted the flap lever with a M8 bolt and lock nuts and not a nylon bush with M6.

Ailerons and Flap mixers installed. Needed to ream out the bushes on the fuselage alot due to the weld "crimping" the bush but after installed with the bronze bush and shimmed it with one washer each side, got no play at all. Spent time on the nylon bush in the flap mixer to the aileron mixer. The inner nyloc was countersunk and after fitting locktite it was a mission to tighten up till the bush swelled and bolt not turning. Got no sidewards or upwards play and turns freely, feels good to me.

Not too keen on leaving these clamps as stoppers for the elevator. Going to remove them and make cable stoppers on the control arms under the seat. Will put a pic of that when done and then take a final decision. As it stands i think i already know what option to go with!
