You could always go for the Rotorway skorpion I jave just "sold" for an aquantence. I say sold as I do not consider any any sale complete until the money is in the bank. Yours for a whole R37500.00

Seriously we have done the costing on it and reccon you are looking at R750K to get it flying again. That would give you a low hour bell for R900K not bad me thinks.....

only tacked in place with two bolts each. Will get measurements for Radio + transponder tomorrow and take it all appart so that I can do the cut outs of them the mag and master switch as well as fuses

the "rippling arround the holes is from polishing them with a scouring pad to get the hole edges smooth. Will all be covered when I apply the final finish

header tank now installed busy with cowling while i wait for my engine.... Once it's back will do a heat shield for the header tank

Hi Simon, The header tank in the engine compartment is very dangerous. If you get an engine fire you will have LOTS of problems. You will have to isolate that header properly in a heat proof enclosure and install some drain pipes that should it leak the fuel gets taken out of the engine compartment. Also in an accident the header tank could explode.

And while u are busy anyway, move the silencer as in this pic. It will be nice and faaar away from the radiator, and less radiation heat.

Like in Boet's picture but turn the header around so the outlet is in the cockpit and then install a fuel shut off valve between the header and the engine compartment, heatsleave the pipe that comes into the cockpit from the engine to to the shut off valve. That way if you do get an engine fire you can shut the fuel to the engine bay off and the short fuel line in the cockpit is heatsleaved so it will not catch fire.

After starting a tailwheel conversion at KFA, the bug bit hard - very hard. Stefan at Kitplanes did warn me...

I have bought Syphon's bushbaby and she is now in Bredell, well Petit as we speak. It was a tough weekends drive to PE and back, with some challenges along the way but nothing that cant be overcome.

Sadly, right now, flying big planes is getting in the way of finishing little planes, but I will update the page as we go along. I live quite close to Petit, and Stefan has offered advice and assistance as and when needed, for which I am grateful.

Also, just a quick thanks. My other half and lightie endured a long continuous drive to PE, load aerie and a drive back in the space of 2days. We sometimes forget that our families play a big part in our hobbies and we should sometimes show a little gratitude.

BB 32, has had a recent once over in the engine, decoked, new pistons (Thanks Syphon) new gaskets. Engine has 217hrs on her. Also has the autolube.

I was advised that the firewall should be stainless and so I took the engine off and took it home. I need to cut a new firewall. I have rebuilt the carbs which went well, Not as difficult as I thought it would be (for a first timer). Once I have a new firewall, will re-install the engine. I need to get a header tank, plumb the fuel system.

Then will need to do the wiring, install a battery, plumb the instruments.

Hopefully then, off to CAA for a registration (yes, she has never flown or been registered) and then F L Y time
