Mounting an iPad on a T-pod?
Mounting an iPad on a T-pod?
Hi guys
I'm contemplating mounting my iPad on my trike's T-pod (my options are buy new GPS or use iPad)
iPad has amazing apps which many of the blik pilots use
Anybody done something like this?
Good idea / bad idea?
Appreciate your input
Cheers
Ant

You get brackets from spruce that you can attach to the profile tube. Mine works like a charm.

Hi!anthonyhugo wrote:I was thinking of getting runwayHD ever used it?
I had a brief look at Runway HD but my preferred iPad application is now Airnav Pro, great maps, weather and other information, even synthetic vision and terrain awareness. I am also thinking of mounting it in the plane, the only problem is space.......
Fly safe,
Rudi

Re: Mounting an iPad on a T-pod?
I have used vfrtracker but I found it has less features than Airnav Pro? Maybe I need to look at a newer version......KFA wrote:Vfrtracker works best for me. Local is lekker. I also use arnav pro but vfr tracker is more up to date. http://Www.vfrtracker.co.za
There is no synthetic vision, basic flight instruments or terrain awareness in Vfrplanner, maybe more of a planning tool than an actual "in the cockpit" tool? You need to "cache" the maps before you fly by connecting to the internet?
For best results you have to buy the additional maps and 3D terrain data for Airnav Pro so it does add up a bit (Program = $49, map = $17 and 3D data = $65) but still not expensive compared to a complete hardware solution like a MGL or other intrument.
Unlike Vfrplanner Airnav Pro has infinite zoom levels and will run in portrait or landscape mode, the rest of the features seem similar.
I like and use Open/Easy Cockpit on the PC but so far the iPad version seems less than stable, I agree, Local is Lekker but it needs some more work on the iPad.
It is best to try them all and then decide what works for you.....

Re: Mounting an iPad on a T-pod?
I decided to have another look at this local product, if possible I want to support local products!KFA wrote:Vfrtracker works best for me. Local is lekker. I also use arnav pro but vfr tracker is more up to date. http://Www.vfrtracker.co.za
After running around their site a bit, trying to register and only getting re-directed to the same page I figured out I cannot register direct for the paid version? Anyway, no harm, so I register for the free version, PROBLEM! It does not run under IOS6 yet.....
Ok, I have an older iOS5 device as well, gave that a try, registered and installed the app, now I need to connect using the code they gave me but no go, keeps on saying the code failed....
Deleted app, sorry vfrtracker!!

Hi Rudi, if you have problem with the code you can always give us a call or send a message via the site to assist. According to our logs it seems that you may have managed to login? iOS6 PROBLEM is a Apple problem which has been forward to the Apple developers + many other by developers. I'm sure if you get the code sorted out you may be surprised.Rudix wrote:I decided to have another look at this local product, if possible I want to support local products!KFA wrote:Vfrtracker works best for me. and from your comments which is not true; vfrtracker is a planning tool, FULL navigation functions in cockpit tool, forecast weather with winds aloft and tracker (live tracking is a first for the rest to follow) maps are downloaded to a database the same as any other app, the advantage is you download what you need, etc etc Regards Sias
