NEW FLY IN DESTINATION: DE HOEK COUNTRY LODGE

Postby jtmei » Sun Feb 26, 2012 11:47 am

Hi aviators.

Feel i must deal this information with you as i know how we as pilots always like new fly in destinations. On 2012-02-25 Theo "cobra" and morris "fbi"
visited de hoek country lodge between heidelberg and the vaaldam. We left from fincham airfield south of nigel and my gps showed 14 miles to the lodge.
Within 14 min. we circled over the de hoek country lodge. What a sight !!! Really a nice place. The runway [grass and gravel] , 330 metres is located about a 150 met from the lodge.
runs from south to north. As we landed the owner Andre was already waiting next to the runway. We parked next to his hangar on the grass. (^^) (^^)

At the lodge karen the other owner welcomed as with muffins and coffee. I was really impressed by their compassion for what they do. While drinking coffee Andre gave as
some history on the farm. There after andre took as for a tour through the conferece and wedding facilities. Karen was also busy preparing things for a wedding that afternoon.
The lodges provides sleeping facilities for everybodie desire. xxx . The visit was so nice that 2 hours past without notizing. Andre then asked me to invite all pilots who want to
fly in for breakfast, coffee or sleep over. Andre also fly trikes and understand our needs. Would appreciate if everyone can help with a date for an opening fly in and breakfast.
Any suggestions to accomodate everybody, thx. You can also visit their web site at http://www.dehoekcountrylodge.co.za.

Activities on farm: -
- bow hunting [in season]
- horse riding
- game trais
- hiking trails
- mountainbiking [own bikes]
- quad biking
- swimming pool
- archery
- pottery ext.

Co-ordinates for runway: - s26deg 37,10.5 E28deg 21,18.0

Waiting for suggestions for opening fly in, please lets use this new oppurtunity.
attached some photos when we visited on 2012-02-25.

Hi John

Fixed your oops on the first post.
But yes this looks like an excellent place for a Coffee and brekkie.
