Nicow will not be joining me - but still go to Numbi. He will accompany two more Potties guys who want to route "straight as the crow flies", but they want Nicow alongside when crossing the escarpment. vhpy Good on you guys - as well as Nicow who will be there! (^^)

This opens up time for me - so I will be leaving a day earlier for Hippo Pools! 26 September. 27 September early morning - Numbi via (hopefully) Blyde. After Numbi - onto Standerton - couple of days talking sh@t with my Dad and catching up, visit to Tumbleweed, then back to Potties via Blue Max. (where I will also spend a day or two if he is back...)

(NS: And my leave has been approved from 26 September to 15 October. No other form of transportation involved for the whole period, other than the Yellow Cobra, wherever I want to go! Isn't it FUN when you can turn your leave into a "flying holiday"? vhpy vhpy NO PRESSURE! (!!)

Being single and childless is sad, but BOY, it has its advantages! ## vhpy

On my way back - I have an idea...the weekend of 13 -14 October...Instead of routing directly back I can fly into Microland on the afternoon of the 12 th October. Then join with Microlanders on a weekend trip to Blue Max? Take-off Saturday morning, 80 miles to Blue Max, Microlanders route back Sunday morning, I route Potties? Any takers?

Blue Max, I agree that flying over the escarpment is probably one of my biggest trike thrills. Every trip is different but definately one of the best part of the Numbi experience.

I dont know if you need to acknolege everyone's trip with accolades but for sure, it brings a glow of satisfaction and answers why and what we look for in triking.

Well it looks like the mists have arrived. Guys, make sure you have very accurate weather reports before taking off for Numbi. The clouds can lie on that escarpment and its just not worth trying to fly in those conditions. Be very, very careful and whatever you do, dont divert to Belfast. If the forecast indicates low cloud put your trike on the trailer and drive there.

Having flown that route a few times myself I do not think its a good idea to give recognition to those that have flown over the mountain.
It could put pressure on someone to fly when they do not feel entirely comfortable because they don't want to be seen as the bloke that could not fly over the mountain when their buddies did. Pressure leads to poor decision making and could put someone in a situation they are not prepared for.

Flying over the mountain is an achievement you keep within yourself and packing up your trike when you feel uncomfortable is very smart and will keep you alive.
I remember a flight to Numbi in a group in WX that was really bad, arriving there and seeing guys take the trike off the trailor made me think I was really stupid to fly and I admire them for making a good decision

Just my 2c
